The -facts- about Ellesmere Island (5. 00 minutes into the video) are incorrect. Apart from the settlement mentioned there is a permanent inhabited Canadian military installation on the northern tip of the island called Station Alert. Furthermore there is a Danish military installation in northern Greenland called Station Nord. It wold also be closer to the North Pole (or the remote place in the arctic oceon mentioned in the video) than the settlement in Grise Fjord mentioned in the video.

What makes Point Nemo even more eerie is that, because the point is within the South Pacific gyre, the circular currents prevent more cooler rich nutrient waters from entering, as a result, there would be nothing to sustain any wildlife at all. so basically, not only would the closest people to you be on the ISS, there'd also be no sharks, no fish, no plankton. just you, alone out there, sourrounded by nothing but water as far as the eye can see

Of course, for true isolation, remember that during the Apollo moon missions, two astronauts went down to the lunar surface, on the lunar nearside, while the third remained in orbit aboard the command module, and was, at times, above the lunar farside. The furthest out any human has been so far, all by himself.

In 2011, Roz Savage rowed her third ocean (Indian, from near Perth, Australia, to Mauritius, near Madagascar. In crossing the Southern Indian Ocean, she was likely the human being furthest from any others. The most remote human alive.

point nemo. no land nearby, you cant swim but youve got a life jacket and you have a fear of the deep waters. and itll take 15 days until a rescue boat comes if your lucky but youll just die of dehydration. now thats terrifying
reply

Fun fact: Point Nemo is the most remote place in the world at the oceanic point of inaccessibility. No one lives in Point Nemo of course and satellites crash there. Tristan da Cunha at least has people - and land

If I wanted to be stranded somewhere in not going out and searching for another human. If a lot of those places weren't so cold I'd be living there by now and this comment would never have been made -

That island must be a very interesting place to live, I'm curious to do more research on it and how people live without what we have here in America, such as phones, or houses, cars, etc.

They-re all wrong! I personally found the loneliest place in the world and it is located in Louisiana- A place called -Bayou Self-. No one can find a lonelier place than that!
reply

the most mind boggling thing is that you could put the iss 5x further from you on easter island and it still would be the closest thing!

Humans should be eradicated. thats it. and everyone who disagrees is mental. we are a sickness. a plague, a parasite (the dumbest)

The vid: -Sometimes you think there is always at least one person everywhere u look-
Me: that PERFECTLY DESCRIBES BANGLADESH

I wonder if anybody tries to deep sea fish in places like Point Nemo just imagine what could be underneath the surface there
reply

I don-t think I would ever want to get away from people that bad to get stuck in one of these places especially Point Nemo.
reply

Imagine you started a journey for survival from bouvet island and after so many years and finally reached Tristan island.
reply

Norway: -That's mine! -Everyone else: -Yeah whatever-. What about the loneliest place on Earth with decent internet.
reply

I hope no children were watching this otherwise you just killed the illusion of Santa Claus and The North Pole.
reply

Why is 2, 689 kilometers -mind-boggling? - You've never flown that far? What's so hard to grasp about that?
reply

There was a recent Ham radio DXpedition (3Y0J) to Bouvet Island. They just left the island several days ago.
reply

Impossible. I-ve been told by people who voluntarily live in big cities that the world is overcrowded.
reply

Got to swim over the Marianas Trench. does that count? Being in the US Navy has its advantages lol
