The Loss of Life in WWI Visualized I cannot believe that you blame the Ottoman Empire with so called -ethnic cleansing- against the minorities, and even making -systematically killing-. Please make your videos according to official records/files (not only one sides records, especially while the one sides is constantly talking with fabricated documents (armenians. Obviously your knowledge is very limited and misdirectioned. -
But I am not surprised at all, the winner side is writing your -history records- and as i see you are learning only from that sources. I hope one day people try to look at history with all perspective as mush as possible. And can be more objective before accusing a whole nation with a crime they didnt make.

The Ottoman Empire, known before WWI as -the sick old man of Europe-, was declining long before the war and blamed their internal struggles on ethnic minorities, such as the Armenians, Assyrians and Greek, which also contributed massively to the empire's economy due to the number of skilled and professional workers being slightly higher than the Turkish majority. For the sake of -purity-, they sought to remove what might've been their greatest assets all because those in power were simply too intolerant towards everyone else and didn't want them around.

im not trying be like a bad person by saying this but, it wasn't Germany's fault for the war. Germany was just trying to be a good ally and help Austria Hungary. The Germans were just trying to be nice and got punished for it. Sure they did bad things such as chemical warfare but Austria Hungary started the war. They should have punished them instead. Making independent countries wasn't enough punishment. Germany was forced to pay 200 billion dollars in reparations when that should have been Austria Hungary.

I really did NOT know about the massive casualties and deaths from the other small countries, i forgot it all started on Serbia and never really investigated what happened to Serbia after the war. 22% is absolutely heartbreaking to know and i feel extremely ashamed of only giving my attention to the big countries
Of course, everyone matters in this picture and every soldier was a victim of this war. Much respect to those who gave their lives to what they believed was right

We have an unpayable and an endless life debt to these soldiers. They sacrificed their lives for whatever reason from nationalism to simply doing their duty because they didn't have another choice, so we have to live as good as we can because absolutely no one here can understand what they endured during this war, which was only the beginning of a much larger and much horrible European civil war. The old continent simply commit suicide in 1914.

I can't overstate how important videos like this are. They serve as terrible reminders of the sickening cost of war. It is easy to think of such things as just another piece of history, another factoid to add to one's catalogue of knowledge but when it is laid out so one can see how much this actually effected the countries in question, it truly is horrifying, as it rightfully should be.

Armenian, Greek, and Assyrian genocides have never happened. And what is that Greek, and Assyrian genocides? Are they the new propaganda toys? Why you people never call US nuclear attack to Japan as genocide? It was a massacre. Even the video recordings exist. Why it is not a genocide when we talk about US? You western people are so hypocrite.

If you were male those casualty numbers are about double when compared to the total population. If you were of the age 18ish to 30 and male, then double that number again as those were around the ages most men were fighting. So if you are a young male adult, your numbers are about four times as likely to be dead or wounded.

And as the end draws near-
November dawn-
With losses so severe-
Cease-fire, their forces withdrawn
November 11th settling the score-
From 15 to 20 million-
Almost half of the dead civilian-
A new world will dawn from empires fallen-
The end of the war to end war

I think the reason why Neil Halloran made them count in his video is cause it makes you better look at the count. 1 figure means 1, 000 means nothing when they just swoop in as huge blocks, while Soviet deaths counting up really makes you take in all who died.

Now, close to the end of 2021, watching this again, and thinking to myself, humanity has once more started to forget the unimaginable horrors of war, as it becomes more and more apparent that we are heading towards a possible third world war T_T

My grandmothers uncle was in the new zealand machine gun corps. He died in the battle of pachaendale i think and i got to see his grave at the belgian tynecott berial sites. He was under a tree so that was pretty cool. South-West corner i think.

There was also other ways that ww1 was negative the entirety of cities like ypress were turned to ruin and the library of alexandrea was burned with priceless books and literature from the Middle Ages

All of these videos annoy me so much. The fact that each man represents 1000 dead people, makes it look like a smaller value. It's hard to imagine all the deaths when you don't se all of them.
reply

How did you forget Armenia? 1915? 1. 5 MILLION Armenians killed? No? Doesn't ring a bell?
And that was just the genocide. The war itself cost Armenia 500 thousand soldiers.

Man the ottomans are so underrated everyone thinks about the germans or british but the Ottomans lost the 2nd most casualties in the war due to ethnic clensing and Gallipoli
reply

In the very unlikely chance anyone actually sees this, what-s the music used at the very start of the video called? I-ve always wanted to know for years but I can never find it
reply

In Germany, we know another count of dead Civilians. 800 000 Civilians died, largly all of starvation. But probably, thats the price of starting a World War
reply

On a hugely positive note, nearly all of the military deaths were men. This left the surviving men with much better selections over the huge surplus of women.

The Americans didn't fight the Austrians. The Austrians didn't fight on the western front and the US didn't even declare war on Austria-Hungary

All these nations deserved it, they were all aggressors and running their own trouble making empires except u. s. a and serbia romania/greece etc
reply

wrong wrong wrong. The things that you said about Ottoman Empire is false. You have to search more before making a video. Dont give false information

I have always been a Nazi and WW2 history nerd I never even looked at the where it all started RIP all the brave men who faught for their nation -

In 6: 20 you said Germany lost 7. 5% of their population but showed 15%. But then you blurred it and covered it with 7. 5%. Why?
