Watched this b/c thought it was about our pilot of the titanium hull submersible caught in cables on the bottom of the Puna trench, possibly one of the deepest ocean areas on the planet. Yes, a combination of events must all come together to cause a tragic accident, as well as to cause the rarer survival from incredibly traumatic and almost always unsurvivable circumstances. Obviously these videos couldn't possibly represent all situation's where human's survive in extraordinary situations over the past 160, 000years, imho nobody can predict how we might survive in seemingly unsurvivable scenarios.

30 m is also known as just over one typical swimmingpool, who the hell cant swim that while holding their breath? Sure, really bad weather, or sharks might make him hide for a few hours, though it seems unwise, in particular given that it would make ascent harder, but from the very beginning, just swim to the damned surface. Any floating device object would also make this way easier.

That bit about hearing sharks eating his friends is nonsense, though.
I mean I doubt any sharks even went in, then even if they did, what are the odds they had access to the other crew? Then even if they did, what are the chances that guy heard them? Then even if he did, what are the chances he would recognize the sound precisely as a shark munching on his friend?

I have akind of fear of the ocean. Dropping anchor and jumping in to cool off, is not my favourite thing to do. Whilst all around are enjoying it, I'm floating around, very conscious of my feet being very exposed. Suppose it's like the foot overhanging your bed feeling-
I get out after a couple of minutes

Why did he have to decompress for 2 days for 30 meters deep? Was it because he spent so many hours over there?
I just started diving, so when we dove 20 meters we did the emergency stop to decompress but it wasn-t that much. -
Thanks God he-s still alive

Its always wierd how not cold water has to be to hurt you. Like you say -freeze to death-, but the water down there was likely the same temperature as it was on the surface if he was only 30m down. The temp doesn't change that much in that distance right?

They actually have video of the moment they discovered him. That poor man looked so terrified, but I'm really happy they sent a rescue/recovery crew. You just never know who might have survived even the most unlikely events.

The sharks probably wouldn't attack him while he was alive unless he provoked them, because sharks are just as afraid of humans, if not MORESO, than WE are of THEM, and most shark species actually HATE the taste of human meat.

What an excellent survival story. One the best I have ever heard. It's more than fair enough he is afraid of the ocean. He should make good money out this survival story and live a healthy life away from the ocean.

Be careful with your grammar. You put prepositions at the end of sentences a lot. There-s a free grammar check online. Put your scripts through that.

Interesting story. I imagine that His friends that the sharks got, had already drowned? Or is it possible they were in air pockets as well?

Imagine doing this and the lights go out and there are no flashlights or glow sticks on board.
The insanity would come quick.

What an absolute nightmare. As a claustrophobic person I can-t express my respect for that man and how rationally he acted.

Just think about all of the people who had this happen to them but you never hear from them because they died.

He became a commercial diver actually. And the rescuer was the one giving him his diploma during the ceremony.
