The midwife Xoquauhtli has a difficult choice to make. She owes a debt to her patron Teteoinnan, the female warrior goddess at the center of the Aztec seasonal festival, who must be kept happy or she will bring bad luck. Xoquauhtli should participate in the festival today, but one of her patients could go into labor any minute. Kay Read outlines a day in the life of an Aztec midwife. Interesting that they did ritual sacrifice during the dry season. I wonder if it was all an excuse to thin the herd so there was more food for the rest. Or even more sinister more food for the gluttonous. Knowing human nature it was probably the latter.

when the 'gods' feed the people, and the winter season, when the people feed the 'gods' in return
Me: Oh that's nice of them-
Aztec Dude: Pulls out a human head
Me: N-never mind

where is this story from? sometimes I wonder if ancient stories are told from the ancient peoples perspective or the newcomers

Fact: Aztec's were so cruel that they'll take your heart out when you're still alive right from your chest to feed their gods
