Second person point of views tend be rather risky, from my experience in writing. The biggest issue really is preventing cognitive dissonance in the readers - if you go too far off from the way they personally think, their suspension of disbelief gets shattered and from there it's hard to recover interest. It is true that it is an interesting way for the characters themselves to put some distance between them and the story they are retelling, but second person is essentially the author telling the readers what they should feel - and if at any point, the reader doesn't feel like it, well there's certainly the issue.

I learned a lot about third person and first person through English in High School, but only barely touched on second-person. I think that is because it's too easy to take a side, so they told us to take one or the other to more focus our thoughts when written out on the paper. I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever read a book that was second person. Maybe second person is used in persuasive speeches as a sort of call to action, or to give the listener a sort of sympathetic feeling?

1st Person Perspective: 1st person tells story of 1st person (narrator and reader become to the character)>> only character
2nd Person Perspective: 2nd person tells 1st person the story of 1st person (reader becomes the character)>> character and narrator
3rd Person Perspective: 2nd person tells 3rd Person the story of 1st person >> character, narrator and reader

I don't know if any of you ever read the Book Thief by Markus Zusak, but its play on narrative is sublime. It seems like it's third person, but at the end (or if you've read the blurb: /) you realise it's (SPOILER) Death speaking, and the narrative starts shifting to first person when Death if talking about himself. Love that book.

Im writing a short story and Im probally going to start it in 2nd person and then move to either 3rd or 1st. Most likely Im changing to 1st. I dont know how Im going to put it in but I wrote the draft for my next animations story.
