As millions around the world shelter at home, the smog melts away, the birds sing, and the waters run clear. What if we used this moment in our lives and in history as an opportunity to jumpstart the rebirth and rewilding of our planet when we go back to work and school? This moment can lead us to a healthier, cleaner, greener future, if only we grasp it. Tom Rivett-Carnac tells the story of what happened when we all stopped. Nature is to be with us not for us.
Animals are to be with us not for us.
High production and high consumption have been chanted as a mantra in the modern world driven by Western culture/civilization (with the industrial revolution, capitalism and colonisation, which has been exploiting/conquering nature and indigenous people all over the globe, and has been spreading like cancer cells by making so many humans addicted to it.
But alas, even the almighty Western civilization doesnt have the slightest chance to beat the challenges posed by sustainability. So, we now have to play a new game with new rules.
Sustainability is a relatively recent concept, but living within ones means is a centuries-old wisdom, and they are based on the same idea. So, how come the wisdom of the latter had not been observed in a bigger picture? A maxim says, A stitch in time saves nine. Now, the reality is more like, 9 stitches are needed to save 10.

Beautiful. But I think there is and should be time for sorrow. There's deep grief for a wondrous diverse world diminishing because of over-wealthy, mindless humans, and we need time for responding to these affects of sorrow while we also grow the plants of tomorrow

This is such a touching story. So wise, yet true. I find it so very encouraging to do what is right for planet earth and our environment. Thank you for making such a touching story!

I guess this virus gave Mother Nature a chance to replenish herself, I mean who would even chop a tree or harm the environment at this time of health crisis

Yet still they made no connection to these things and human overpopulation because that meant they were directly responsible and not everyone else.

What we need now is actually 100times more efficient artificial photosynthesis and more nuclear power plants and the perfection of cold fusion

This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in months. Thanks you for this message of HOPE. We have much to do. Much to love.

Animals live in trees as we live in houses. You wouldnt break down someones house, we shouldnt cut down as many trees as we do.

I wanted to try just closing my eyes while listening but the animation makes the narration more soothing to my mind and heart.
