Whats the process of retrieving a sunken ship and preparing it for display in a museum? How do archaeologists work underwater? One of the biggest wrecks ever discovered in Spain was the Triunfante, sunk during a French siege in 1795. We follow the process from its discovery to its display in a museum and learn what makes this ship so special

I a totally amazed that a ship wreck so close to shore did not also wake the divers up to ond very important thing, that being shallow water, where the aplication of surface demand breathing is employed.
This removes the requirment of bottle filling every dive and depending on the actual depth, the amount of time that can be spent at the sight.
This method was used for years to supply the old fashion diving suit where the heavy metal helmet was worn and heavy boots with a couple of guys turning a hand pump to supply air.
Also having been involved a few time in this kind of work, the suction tube goes to the surface onboard the boat and delivers both the sand and also small items carried with it to the surface and into a dranage tray so nothing is missed.
Having watched this video, i wonder how many items were just moved from the sight to where ever the flow took jt, so that many things of interest were never even seen

The problem with museums and archaeologists will they make discoveries and these findings important things they sit in a room or a vault for almost ever no one gets to see them and they're just wasted I rather somebody dive down there find it sell it it goes in some Museum after or some collectors home at least they can enjoy it but the museums are the worst for hiding the treasures that they have I'm sure they have warehouses full of treasures and amazing historical artifacts it'll never be seen by human eyes I think they do more damage than anything to a certain degree

Wouldn't building an exact replica of the ship teach them about the construction and design of the ship? It's definitely not the largest shipwreck ever discovered especially compared to the Titanic and Bismarck. I hope the sand that was dredged was used to reinforce the coastline of Spain. If Jorge Juan was able to communicate with the Irish and English designers and the Spanish and Portuguese builders translate the Irish and English designers to the Spanish and Portuguese builders to help the builders understand the designers?

What is this? Why this music? How come is not stating clear CATALONIA does NOT speak Castilian or badly called spanish! There are SEVERAL spanish languages.
Also in Catalonia we speak CATALAN, so please avoid this distorted and manipulated video as this is another example of history manipulation, distortion of facts and pure lies

I'd like to see a documentary about Muslim Pirates and what kind of ships they were using during the 13th and 14th century in order to completely closed down Commerce in the Mediterranean and be able to take slaves out of England. I have never seen any kind of documentation on the Barbary Pirates ships

The only thing in which this method of shipbuilding could be faulted for was the 'Not Made Here' mantra of the shipbuilders complaining of using the techniques created in another country!
Such feeble-mindedness is typical of good techniques rejected soley on grounds of where they originated!

Do you add indian music to videos from pakistan? Then how come are you using spanish music to show a documentary of Catalonia? Why on earth you dont know yet the difference between a chair and a table a catalan and spanish? Are the US, Canada, Australia, part of England?

So it's okay, if you have a bunch of money, to loot abandoned wrecks. But if someone else loots what you are planning on looting, before you get there, it's wrong? How does this make sense? I say, Finders Keepers.

This wreck was never NOT known. Yesterday a penny fell out of my pocket. At what point am I (or my children or new landowner) not allowed to pick up my own coin? When does it morph to something collectively owned?

Spain doesn't care UNLESS you happen to find one of the treasure galleons! Then Spain will be all over you. After Mel Fisher found the Atocha with millions on it everybody wanted some Spain, Florida, the U. S.

Stop the description of the removing of the sand and get to the finding of the cargo. That is what we want to see. The museum pieces and than the reconstruction of the ship displayed in a museum.

I'm sorry but if these sites were not explored they would be lost forever. Call me a savage or whatever, but surely it is better that sites like this are actually shown rather than lost forever!

. my girlfriend and I visited Sitges 1981, we watched looters from the beach,
we asked why did they not stop the looters, shrugged shoulders
and oh wells, so very sad.

From the very second I looked in the face of Ramses II at the Boston museum of science when I was 12 or 13 years old I've developed a hatred of people who steal our history!

I would love to scuba dive and excavate a long lost ship wreck from the 1700s, that would be an awesome experience. Dredging up all that sand, is no easy task.

Ah, I wish that every ship could be found in perfect condition and that these kind researchers could restore each and every one!

Would love to find a documentary about the arms race between the major shipbuilding nations of the 15-19th centuries.

at the end of the day, this project is not money well spent
much like the ships architect just a make work project
