They are two of historys most talked about figures, but how much do we really know about the ill-fated lovers? What were their real characters and motives? Why did one of them lose their head? And how did their actions change the course of history forever? Historian, author and Tudor-expert Dr Suzannah Lipscomb will retrace the couples steps by visiting the places that were important to them, where their romantic, political and tragic lives were played out, and meet people today who are hell bent on finding out the truth about the Tudor love affair that changed everything forever octoberfire13: I think he wanted to wed Jane and to do that he wanted to believe that she had betrayed him. God the fact that he married Jane so fast proves that. If only Science had known back then that it was his fault for not having a boy yet (in wedlock, anyway)

I recently watched a video that talked about the possibilities on why Catherine of Aragon may have had so many miscarriages and stillbirths. They said as Catherine was such a dedicated/devoted catholic she frequently fasted almost to the degree of what we would call being anorexic and she continued fasting even during her pregnancies which is something that her personal physician and priests actually warned her against doing. If it's true that she continued fasting so severely while pregnant that could explain the miscarriages as her body wouldn't of been able to handle the stress nor provide adequate nutrition for her child in the womb to develop properly and healthily.

I think Henry is the crazy one he knew ann Bolen did not do those awful things and I can't believe Henry really loved her he didn't talk to her see her smart she was just a big flirt this man just didn't really care women to him were baby makers see slaves someone to keep the king happy and im sure with his body odor from his knee would ill be nice a little over weight his rudness sleeping with every woman he just plain sucked sorry I know how everything worked way back then and his first wife his brother that died wife's who did he think he was IM sure ann Bolen was not a totally good herself but back then women had to do what they had to do

I remember going to Hever castle for history school trip and it was so much fun. Walking around I was so excited to know this is the place where she lived, this is where she grew up, knowing that Henry viii also stayed there, it felt like history coming alive and all I was thinking was if only these walls could speak what would they say? I also sat on Henry viii bed, it wasnt allowed, be I couldnt help myself lol. And secretly touched her pray book it was so thrilling.

Studied as a classical archeologist, it always puts a knot in my stomach to see such valuable manuscripts handled without protective cotton gloves. A minor point and vellum is incredibly durable, but the ink and paints/stains used are subject to wear and destruction if handled. I dont think Ive ever seen Suzannah wear gloves in any of her documentaries. Other than this possibly minor point, I do enjoy Timeline documentaries.

The first gift Henry said to have given Anne.
Narrator: it's a whistle
Me: oh, that's cute.
Narrator: .with a scoop for ear wax and a pick for teeth.
Me: ummmm. okay. Sort of like giving your toothbrush to my crush, but okay.
Narrator: This gift sends a clear message.
Me: .that she needs to clean her ears?
Narrator: If you whistle, I'll come.
Me: oh. Or that.
History is so fun and interesting

Ooooooohhhhhhhhhh
The actress in this playing and Boelyn got to wear the clothes and stand, sit, and kneel. In the very places were Anne got to stand, sit, and kneel. sigh. I'm forever going to historical places and wanting to get beyond The Velvet ropes. Just, to be there. Where they were.

Whats the deal here? Why did you apparently change the title of the first part of the documentary but not the second part? Because the title of the documentary is Henry and Anne: the Lovers who Changed History. But the thumbnail says something completely different. Please fix this! Thanks!

Anne Boelyn got the last laugh. Henry's only son reigned for barely 6 years - the kingdom run by advisors as he was a child. Henry's daughter Mary reigned for barely 5 lousy years. Anne's daughter Elizabeth reigned for nearly 45 years - a period widely regarded as a golden age for England.

As a woman i am ashamed at the behaviour of Ann Boleyn. She didn't care. what her behaviour had on anyone other than herself. I cannot say axing her head by the psycho Henry 8th is what she deserved. But she cried no tears for all the lived she mangled.

Short of being a time traveler, no one can _change history. _ History is what it is and based on whatever transpired. It's silly and just plain wrong to say someone changed history. It's high time (pun intended) to stop with that nonsense.

I love how th commentator is so passionate about Anne, and can see in her eyes sometimes all emotions she had! would love to tour this place with the commentator while seeking so much from her knowledge of history

In the earlier days wouldn't Henry have the typical medieval Tudor mens hairstyle, bangs and hair up to the chin? Why have the men got modern hairstyles, couldn't they of put a wig on to make it more believable lol

Henry was great because he was the part y animal that kept his side-chicks and affairs on the down low, and the secret that his Tudor dynasty was likely also the result of an affair with a bit of French rough-stuff.
reply

Suzannah sure uses a whole lot of words to say a whole lot of nothing. She spent more time fine tuning that phony, mush-mouthed speaking affectation than developing anything interesting to say about history.

I dont believe he actually Loved her. He was a lustful man who couldn't control his urges. I dont even believe he was a real christian but a fake. Ugh I dont like him. But what do I know, I'm a peasant.
reply

She isn't so religious to violate a few of the 10 commandments. Actions have consequences.
It wasn't love but lust he felt. And she told him he was God, typical narcissistic couple.

This documentary actually sparked my interest in the actress who plays Anne Boleyn, Emma Connell. I hope we get to see her in feature films or TV shows in the coming years!

Wouldnt it have been great if he had met and married Meghan marble, off with her head, as it goes Harry does look a bit like a young Henry. now days the royals are too soft.
