In this episode, hear first hand testimonials and dialogue from the incredible men who walked on the moon. Incredible footage and photos give a unique and beautiful experience of their data collection process and journey home. Between 1968 and 1972, NASA successfully sent 24 men where no human beings had been before or since. The final mission, Apollo 17, flew in December 1972 and closed the final chapter in NASA's triumphant Apollo Program. The Apollo 17 Experience is an emotive, informative and inspirational tribute to the spirit of human exploration and mankind's final steps on the Moon

When I was a kid in the 80's I was an Eagle Scout. I received congratulatory letters from both Neil Armstrong and Gene Cernan. But at the time I was only Neil Armstrong! Who cares about anything else? Then in the 90's with Apollo 13, both the book and movie, was all the rage. Yet now that I've had decades to reflect on the science-side of going to the moon, I find Apollo 17 to be the most interesting. I'm so grateful that I got that letter from Gene and wished that I would have appreciated it more at the time. This documentary expertly covers the why America went to the moon. Probably one of the best documentaries on any subject that I've ever seen.

I was there at launch. I was very young hardly remember much except it was late. It was delayed and my mother woke me up past midnight. We had press passes my dad got from a friend at the news. Special memories. Whats strange is my very first memory on earth was Apollo 11 landing. My mother put me in front of tv and elaborated on important the moment was. Because she highlighted it before watching I somehow am able to remember it. I was 4 1/2 almost 5.

I am reading A man on the moon and together with the book, these images are so amazing to see. They mention one very interesting experience the crew had during a lunar walk. According to the book, in one of the Apollo missions (posterior to 11) the astronauts were so happy and talkative that Houston had to ask them to stay a bit quiet. Hahahaha. It must have been an incredible experience for these men.

So awesome, watched it with so much nostolgia. I love the part
The heavens declare Your Glory or Lord, the planet, moon, the sun and the stars which You set in place. In humble gratitude, we thank You for the safe returns from Your heavens of these pioneers in faith. May their achievements contribute to the unity of mankind, and peace to all your people in this Holy season, Amen.

This is the Apollo 11 of Apollo 17, if not better. It is a pity that the general public will usually only see Apollo 11s ghostly black and white images from the lunar surface. The stunning beauty and audacity of Apollos lunar surface exploration was best captured during the J-missions, because of the landscape, Rover television and the occasional DAC movies.

Amazing crew. This is my favorite moon landing. They had a incredibly good team work and they had a blast like small children in a play ground. Extraordinary this occurred 8 years before i was born. The whole apollo program was an gigantic human achievement ever in history. Good bless them all

It really makes me sad to think that instead of all the wars and bombing each, other spending trillions on our militaries, we could have been doing this for the last fifty years!
What a waste in lives and suffering caused instead of doing something inspiring.

I mean seriously. Imagine walking on the moon! Its so far away but still feels so close. It seriously as to be one of the coolest things to experience. Amazing what we can do. imagine what we can do in 1000 years if we can keep ourselves and our planet together.

There is so much to get from this documentary but can I just say how cute these two are? Like they are just so happy and you can feel their almost child-like joy exuding from both of them. I don't think I've ever smiled so much watching a doc before.

The most scientific and fun apollo expedition. I can't wait for the people to come back to the moon. I hope they will learn and have fun there. And that they will have better recording equipment: ) and better spacesuits

it's actually insane how big the moon landing denial theory is yet i have never seen a single piece of evidence that suggests it was fake. how do you all talk so much yet say so little?

America invades every corner of earth. Do you think America wouldn't be occupying the moon long ago? According to America's reputation, American moon landing never happened. It's hoax
reply

America never set foot on the moon surface,
Still trying to figure out how to get there.
Even after nuking the van Allan belt, which only added more radiation.

The parallax movement of the camera when panning on the moon has no depth. Both the foreground and horizon move at similar speed making the moon look like it's tiny

They are laughing at you all, playing golf, fooling around in go karts.
They didn't think my dad was a good enough actor so they hired these guys.

If there were only two men on the lunar surface, who was then video filming them, zooming and moving the camera as the men were moving?
reply

If you are someone that believes the lies of people saying that the moon landing was fake. I really do feel sorry and bad for you.
reply

sorry folks. it was a hoax. it is only a matter of time before NASA admits it. eventually we will send a man to the moon
reply

How did they orient themselves on the Moon? Couldn't they get lost if they would strayed too far from the moon module?

What I felt when I saw a real footage of what really happened when nasa sent real unedited tapes to bbc by mistake?
