I would be very happy, if this fascinating story was told by the indigenous people of the country in question. The fact Europeans entered the African continent with such malicious intents, killed countless millions, enslaved hundreds of millions and stole African treasures to enrich themselves is the principal reason why Africa is in that state of utter misery today. The Africans, unfortunately, have remained friendly and welcoming to the visiting and adventurous Europeans. I know as much history as this obvious Australian whose forebears came directly from the UK. During his visits to Africa and other countries destroyed by Britain and her allies, he has never offered a word of apology. I doubt that he will do anything to better their harrowing conditions and the threats against them. Learn who your ENEMIES are!

Sudan is a lot larger than Egypt and shares a border with it and Libya, its Northern African neighbor, why wouldn't they share culture and history? It has been such a short time since the program began and the references to black Pharaohs is maddening. Why is it necessary to call them black Pharaohs, isn't it enough of a surprise that there were Pharaohs outside of Egypt? Maybe just Sudanese Pharaohs. I guess the identification by color is only unacceptable when black people do it. Otherwise, thank you for this information.

I dont know if its true but I was under the understanding that the Mahdi himself had a dream in which he saw that if Gordon died in battle he himself would also die, he instructed his soldiers to take Gordon alive but instead they killed him in a valiant last stand on a stairway and then placed his head in a tree outside the town walls. Two weeks later the Mahdi died.

He could have just taken the bus from Karima to Merowe. They are pretty regular with it being quite accessible. Getting the train to stop, let his camera crew get off and set up and then jumping off the train seems a bit superfluous really. I reckon he could have got a can of coke when he got off the bus. Drama queen.

Gorgeous images of Sudan and it's people but I feel the title is misleading. There was very little about the Nubian Pharaohs and WAY too much about Kitchener. It's a bit embarrassing to hear Adams fanboy over a colonialist while walking among the decedents of the survivors of his campaign.

What rubbish! The Pharaohs on the walls of Egyptian tombs and temples are the same complexion as the those depicted in Sudan; yet he calls them the black pharaohs. SMH. Some people just lie and have no shame.
