RIP Qadaffi. YOU ARE MOST MISSED. THOSE who did not live you hated the prosperity you brought to Libya and to your people. They were jealous of the progress and development you offered by allocation oil revenue back into Libya and your people. And so they call your leadership a regime. They are so ignorant of your love for Libya, free healthcare, free education, free milk and nappies for children, medical treatment abroad, ZERO homelessness, women social participation, 3000 dinars for each married couple. A guaranteed home an easy loan for a car for newly married couples. All the fest failed to offer to their own people yet they call themselves democracy and your leadership a regime. During your time no child went to bed hungry, something Europe the west hadn't been able to achieve. Yet they acuse you of being a hater against your people.
You were beautiful, a true friend of Africa and oppressed African nations. Truly loved and forever missed

I mean I just had a pretty interesting idea when I heard about how the women were basically the owners of all the stuff in that particular warrior clan culture.
My idea was, i don't know if I happened to uncover the actual origin or not, but in times when the men were actively warriors you have to asume it naturally meant the mortality rate among men were fairly uncertain.
So it simply makes more sense if you entrust all your families belongings to the women so if a husband dies there's no issues regarding ownership for the family.
So it feels like that should be the preferred way to do things in cultures where ownership can be considered safer in the hands of a woman.
It honestly surprises me now that you don't hear about cases like that more frequently.

Maybe I'm taking it wrong but the host comes across as very stiff personality. Just off is best I can describe it. If hes to travel to a place but act completely lost interacting with people is just odd to me. Just an opinion of how it struck me. The guide speaks english very well a d he continued to ask you know this or that? Like she wasn't fluent in english. Then had to have brother along so it's a touchy subject but he started in on you married. me. yeah I'm single lol. Cmon man. her chaperone is in the back. Anyway. hes nice enough acting I guess. Maybe not right choice to present in a place where he comes across as the bumbling westerner. Thx

I'm pretty sure that Leptis Magna was founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th or 8th Century BC, and was a major city of the Carthaginian Empire. No doubt the Romans took over management after the Punic conquest, but I think it's relevant to credit the old Phoenicians where credit is due. They do tend to get overlooked in favour of Greek and Roman accomplishments, but were certainly no less successful at bringing the Mediterranean world together. And they were probably the first to do so. Carthago delenda est? Cato would be proud.

Fine documentary. I do take issue with one point: Leptis was founded by neither the Greeks nor the Romans, but rather by the Phoenicians, later absorbed into the Carthaginian Empire. It was a Phoenician/Punic city for the first 500 years or so. Roman Leptis was originally just an expansion of conquered Punic Leptis, which was not mentioned in this film. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

I wonder if the people that painted all those drawings on the stone walls 2000 years ago had the many years into the future on their minds? Like, they thought, I'm gonna draw this on here, and hope that it will be here long after I'm gone?

He's flirting with her.
You have a boyfriend? I've never married. Every morning you wake up you look like you've just come from a beauty salon. You must get up early. What time do you get up, 5 AM?
She is cute.

I think he and the guide like each other. I'm sensing chemistry between them. It seems like they're flirting a little. The brother looks like a pit bull you don't want to mess with. lol

Libya, had the best and free education system in Africa, for men and WOMEN.
The best economy in Africa, tons of gold, oil, a thriving country.
Then Hillary Clinton came along.

Boy, he found a gorgeous translator! She is so pretty. Where will she be now! That was before Ghadaffi. So interesting that she had protection. Makes a lot of sense.

At 48: 39 in the video the picture may be depicting a battle that took place, if you notice the chariot appears to be crashing.
