there are a lot of things said in this video that are untrue. The KONGO KINGDOM ( in central Africa )that covered a portion of DR Congo, of Republic of Congo, of Gabon and a portion of Angola is the place of the majority I of slave came from. The Kongo Kingdom and its infinite riches was the original reason why Europeans had a conference of Berlin in 1885 where they divided Africa without any Black present at that infamous conference. The Kongo kingdom was more organized, older and more powerful than any kingdom in Senegal, Sierra Leone or Gambian. To this day the center of AFRICA is the richest and wealthiest in the entire continent in terms of the resources on the ground and underground, that part of the world has most fertile women on hearth! Please guys do ur home work educate your selves go find out do somme research, dont embrace ur ignorance. The king of Kongo had his son way back then study in Portugal, go read and found out plz!

Poro is used in Liberia too, the same ethnic groups are indigenous to the westernmost region of Liberia & the Easternmost region of Sierra Leone. The border is colonial not tribal. The Gola, Vai & other tribes that have Poro society for men, also have Sande (pronounced sandey) society for girls coming of age. They are known as secret societies because along with coming of age rites every man & woman should know, there are also tribal rites that are none of the business of non initiants. Poro & Sande have to co-exist.

I started thinking (while watching this rich history documentary) how White Conservative Women (mostly) are fighting to keep this type of history out of the schools and libraries. We didnt get the true teachings of history in schools and they want to keep it that way. What a selfish thing to do. To deprive your children of learning about a variety of cultures, foods, ways and beliefs, etc. is ensuring generations of people ignorant to truths about where each person comes from and their contributions to the world.

I love so much learning about my people. No matter which culture or region they are from! I consider that They are all mine. Our ancestors are shared as far as I am concerned and I love the idea of that! The fact that the Gullah were able to build such a community with rich traditions and observance of ancestral practices and culture is amazing and a blessing.

This a straight up lie m the Gullah or Geeche is not no Africans nor are those two terms African. Geeche is a Muskogee language. And they got them people dancing around in Zulu (South African) attire. This is nothing but a production for entertainment and to keep people confused and conditioned to believe the lies spewed

A terrible documentary. Very little about Gullah culture itself. Lots of pointless singing just to feel the time. The fragments from the past are hilarious because everyone is dressed in modern made cloths that are not even from West Africa. Terrible scenario, writing, voice, etc. Take it off the internet.

This was a wonderful documentary! I love the presenter's style, and I learned a lot. For example I didn't know about Black Americans specific role in starting Decoration Day. This should be required viewing for History students.

I hope I'm Gullah. I learned about the Gullah culture due to the program called Gullah Gullah Island. That was many years ago. I was just talking to a co-worker last week about Gullah culture and how I need to know more!

Its amazing how some people think they can tell us who we are. Some of these comments are disrespectful. Still we rise as Gullah Geechee people. We will continue to teach our children and tell our own stories.

All you have to do is research things for yourself. The truth is out there. And the Aboriginal American was already in the Americas. The title should be from America to Africa.
