Main innacuacies in this video:
No mention of
-Margret, maid of Norway,
-how Alexander III died (he was found at the bottom of a cilf,
-John Bailiol (tomb tabbard) or Robort Bruce ( Robert the Bruce's father/great grandfather I can't quite remember) remember which)
- Andrew Murray (not the tennis player) he was probably the main tactical leader during the battle of Stirling bridge and just as important as William Wallace in gaining support for the cause unfortunately he died of his battle wounds from sterling bridge not living long enough to plan the battle of Falkurk which is thought to be the reason why Wallace lost.
- Princess Isabella was 8 years old during the events of the film and not even in England.
-some Irish soldiers did fight in the Scottish wars of independece, same goes for the Welsh but for the English
MOST IMPORTANTLY IT WAS THE ENGLISH ARMY THAT THE SCOTS WERE FIGHTING NOT THE BRITISH! Great Britain was the name of the island Scotland and England are on and The United Kindom of great Britain wouldn't exist for a few hundred years.
That's just a few because I can't be bothered going into detail about 700 year old politics or what happened after Wallace died not to mention the whole Robert the Bruce story (no spiders involved) or the story of his brother if your into Irish history so look it up, it's actually quite interesting and almost game of thrones esc with no dragons and not much incest.

Mt 5: 48 (Pe 1: 15) Be perfect, therefore, as our heavenly Father is perfect. Now, leaving the meaning of perfection aside or leaving it undefined or deeming it undefinable, isn't this scribe asking too much from believers; for it is a neurological impossibility to ever become perfect. But Matthew's 5: 48 is contradicted by He 2: 11 which says it is God who solely makes believers perfect. But i think that He 2: 11 is not true.
===== Mt 10: 37 Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me 38 Whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whatever carry the cross means and calls for, the scribe is still asking humans to do what they cannot ever do.
True, a believer may---speaking from a neurological possibilities] love her/his belief in God more than own son or child, but the belief in God is not the God in the sky; provided he exists and provided God makes such demands fro a believer. It is of utmost importance not conflate God and god-belief. The one may have zero to do with other. One should not also conflate a belief and clergy; clergy and 'holy' books; 'holy' books/clergy and believers. Such thinking i suggest brings on a lot of peace when dealing with religions.

Historical films can't be 100% true. We weren't around at that time. A film would last about ten seconds if that were the case.
It would also be a better review if you could get your history correct yourself. All too many people pull films down that don't have a clue themselves about the history.
Lets have a look at what you said, and it wasn't even a minute into the subject. You said Wallace fought the British. It wasn't, it was the English. It didn't take a movie to teach me about Wallace, I got tought about Wallace, Bruce, The Black Douglas who lived and fought together in that time, in school.
Remember, it was a movie, a bit of entertainment that's all. Can you tell me a film that was true?

It's such a shame, as an american who's grandparents came from scotland and still has family there, it skewed my beliefs of what happened as a kid. only when I got more into it I found the real history. The thing is as the outlaw king showed, they didn't need to dramatize all this, the real history was way more fascinating. They used so many cutting edge film battle sequences too and captured the brutality so it's a shame that this is just a fantasy

You can't say British when describing Scotland at war with the English it just isn't correct, also after Wallace was quartered his body parts were displayed at market crosses around the British mainland in Scotland and England as a warning, half of his torso was on display at the Merkat(Scottish for market) Cross in Perth Scotland my hometown. He was also alleged to have stolen a barrel of ale from an inn at Perth.

Good to see someone addresses the historical inaccuracies of the flick. Although I doubt many people who take braveheart as accurate care to watch this video. or read a book about the matter. Still I enjoyed the movie. It is entertaining and well played after all.
P. S: The fact Mel toned down the death of William Wallace was no surprise at all. He wanted it PG 16.

I'm pretty sure that there's no firm evidence that Wallace was ever married. IIRC, mention of Marion/Merran doesn't occur until several centuries after Wallace's death in a reworking of Blind Harry's poem. It has been speculated that she was created/inserted into the poem by people who wanted to claim descendancy from Wallace.

If history to you is just dates, facts and trivia then, well done. But for me history is 'story'; its about bigger things, like how people with power try to control others, and how people without power find ways to secure thier own freedom. Using this criteria how would this movie rate in 'accuracy? '

It was just a movie made for entertainment purposes so who really cares if its correct. Its not going to change history how it was made. The pics where supposedly painting their bums blue too just to identify their dead on the battlefield from the other dead guys, hence the kilts would be revealing.

We knew it was historically wrong because the director, mel Gibson, has a catholic beef with protestants apparently. A few of his movies are anti British. The patriot. Braveheart.
And apparently Australian movie stars like to direct movies with slow motions of their face half the movie.

British dosn't only mean English, it can also mean Scottish or Welsh; much like American doesn't only mean Texan. When you're talking about Scots vs British that doesn't make sense. Say Scots vs English otherwise it sounds just silly.

Wallace was a pretty nasty individual, slaughtering people who didn't join him. Also, I dont think Robert the Bruce ever betrayed a Scottish army in battle like in the film, in fact, was he even old enough to be there?

well, you weren't there. so. there's that. the opening narrative of the movie makes any synopsis like this invalid. Historians from England will say I am a liar, but history is written by those who have hanged heroes.

It was inaccurate 'cause they didn't know exactly what happenned to William and Mel decided to give a dramatic plot instead of a accurate one, there's so much things unknown about those centuries ago

I just find it cringeworthy. Many Scots think the same too. But there's a generation who believe this pile of crap really happened. Peter Watkins Culloden is far more accurate and affecting.

You use the term British when you mean English. British refers to people from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (though some N. Irish don't like being called British)

Hey, both of them screwed up our stories too. Look at the Patriot. I like the movie, but they ran events together, same way. Both good movies, but it very inaccurate
