I would love to see a historically correct drama series starting with the War of the Roses & ending with Queen Elizabeth.
Not Hollywood history but true era costumes, living conditions, facts that have been proven, no adult porn. just something real.
It might take yrs to complete if you really want to pack in the truth. I would watch & wait for each season

The blister treatment with the chili peppers does have a similar sort of logic to something we still use today. Some topical pain relief creams have capsaicin as the active ingredient, the same burning chemical that makes peppers spicy. In the Army, smart soldiers use their own sharpie to mark the limbs the Doc is NOT supposed to cut off so they are safe while we are unconscious on the table. Army Docs in America still have a habit of AMPUTATING THE WRONG LIMB! Imagine you waking up to find they cut off your only working arm! Oops, sorry about that. My bad. I read the chart wrong. Still happens to this day, and will happen again tommorrow. But it's free health care.

10: 19 Heroin wasn't a derivative from the native American Indians ''thats for sure mate as it was actually made by a German company who had some sort of printing shop n experimented in meds n it was the United States that copied its pattern but dofo not from the natural Indian meds lol Sorry but no that much. Not having cars trucks or airplanes to ferry goods around, If you lived in that time. You would just have to accept frontier doctors and apothecaries along with all of their various potions. I'm very thankful we live in the early 21st century when doctors are trained at universities and required to have licenses to practice medicine.

Firstly I would have gone to medical school in the east. Second, I wouldn't
be re-locating to a territory unless I had a better than good reason - and I would either go with others or to established contacts. Thirdly I would not simply 'move-in' on any community
without evaluating who or what was already there.

When I had my boyhood in the 1960's, I watched both Star Trek and Gunsmoke. It does not take a genius to understand why if I had a choice, I would very much rather have Dr. McCoy of the starship Enterprise as my primary care physician, instead of Doc Adams of the 19th Century Wild West town of Dodge City!

Folks still bartered for doctors services well into the Depression. My paternal grandpas parents traded 3 turkeys to a doctor after my grandpa had been born with his assistance. To this day, my grandpa jokes that his parents didnt get a good deal because they traded 3 turkeys in exchange for another. XD

Chinese and the native Indian had medicinal herbs used for thousands of years, in fact many medicines are derived for plant medicine, so it was not all snake oil, it depends on, if the the doctor was a crook are not, modern doctors try to make it look like voodoo, there's no money in weeds

15 yrs ago, I went to a flea market here in town. I found a Dr's medical bag, stamped Paid September 1895 & it still had some of the medications in it. I was so thrilled. I still have my Johnny West hores, action figures & covered wagon. So fascinating.

I will NEVER understand how blood letting became a cure all. Faint heart beat? Gotta get that pesky blood out of there! Patient died? We didn't get enough blood out quick enough! Or because we got too much blood out too quick. Who can tell the difference?

I'm in America and the Obamacare system won't cover my doctor, he's not in their PPO or HMO list. So I still am forced to pay for insurance but still have to pay out of pocket to my doctor.

Modern doctors are much the same as they were 200 years ago. Amazing how they once killed you with their bare hands, now they kill you through misdiagnosis and telephone appointments

I treated own horses unless they received a problem that required vet work. Anything minor I would dr. When I did long rides emergency kits were great. Women pads make great bandages.
