I used to smoke camel Turkish gold cigarettes and one time in college I was standing outside the lecture hall smoking a camel and my English professor came by and saw what I was smoking and said Camels? Great! My father thanks you!
I was taken aback by his unusual enthusiasm and asked why would he thank me? He laughed and said Oh, because he's an attorney for R. J. Reynolds! Definitely made me think a bit about what I was doing. I didn't quit then but did a few years later cold turkey.

None of you I'm not a single one of you has as many camel cash as I have saved up! Since the Advent of the camel cash my dad saved every single one on every pack he smoked and saved them for some dumb reason well then I started smoking and I collected them and right before I was about to buy the Camel cigarettes Ford Bronco they stopped making camel cash and they stopped honoring it. So now I have enough camel cash to make a full length flowing ball gown with matching handbag.

Amazing to think how little that Family Guy episode was exaggerating.
The last thing we want is for children to start smoking.
Well, what about that graph that says 'The first thing we want is for kids to start smoking'?
Oh, that's just something my son made in art class.
Oh. W-well, what about that sign that says 'The graph wasn't made in art class. We really want kids to start smoking'?

I was an adult when Joe Camel appeared, because I was an adult non smoker, who had just watched my mother endure the process of quitting I wasnt about to start. Im glad I didnt, as I have ADHD and it would have been hell to quit. My mom later said that she felt guilty for smoking as long as she did, because it hurt me, told her that she shouldnt, because she presented a VERY powerful anti smoking model.

I was too young to be exposed to much of Joe Camel but the name and the still recent history definitely was definitely brought up when talking about the tobacco industry. I think the schools and other coverage avoided actually showing the character during those years though as that would make it harder to prove the point it was bad (maybe)

Joe Camel didn't encourage kids to smoke. I think this modern world demonizing tobacco is wrong. Its an adult product, not for kids. Basically all the restrictions put in place are backed with the drastically overplayed second hand smoke argument and appealing to kids.

Yeah, I owned a C store in the 1980's. Everyday we had at least 20 to 30 or more 6 year olds trying to buy Camel cigarettes. We carded them every time. A couple were so desperate to smoke Camels, they had fake ID'S. What an epidemic.

The real decline of cigarettes is the government, by creating a sin tax they caused the death of tobacco, the state doesn't care if you live or die, they want more money from you, which is why a pack costs upwards of 9 bucks a pack.

I. Am. So. Old. But I no longer smoke cigarettes. I seriously thought joe camel was older than that. I remember smoking during high school (not during class, but out on the smoker's quad. I was out of school by joe camel time.

I grew up around the time Joe camel was still in ads. I was a kid, looking at these ads, and was not encouraged to smoke by those ads. Sure, I started smoking later in life, like in my 20s, but the camel didn't convince me to

4: 55, When you don't smoke but still want to light a cigarette.
I have had camel wides (red and blue, Turkish Royals, and unfiltered (studs. But I would buy a Marlboro red first before I got a Camel pack.

We had the Pool table ashtrays and everything else. My mother used to smoke Camels and would staple 20 camel bucks together and I remember seeing a bag full on time. think she bought a treadmill with them.

I'm proud to say I have never smoked a camel. Recognize him from when my mom would go to get her tabaco in the early 2000s. No clue I was the target audience. I just liked his gold chain.

Literally watched an old man with a prosthetic arm with that metal hook for a hand open a fresh pack of filterless camels, pull one out and bend it to a circle. It never even ripped the paper.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and when I started smoking at 15 I bought Marlboros. I don't think he encouraged me to smoke as much as my parents did. I bought the exact same smokes as them.

I remember old Joe from the early 90s in those classic cigarette dispensers/vending machines. But it never encouraged me to smoked, even though my grandfather smoked camel studs.

Smoked Camels in my twenty's. Haven't smoked cigs in 20years. Soon as I retire (if I can afford it) I'm buying some camels. Heck, I might even start drinking and get some weed.

My mom likes to tell the story of how she won a rap contest at some bar back in her 20s and received 50 bucks and a joe camel towel. That is the most 90s shit Ive ever heard.
