11 Myths About the Salem Witch Trials

One of the most interesting misconceptions about the Salem witch trials is that they were the first and only witch hunts that took place. What is significant about the Salem trials is they were some of the last to take place; they came just as the ones in Europe were dwindling - as something that European colonists brought with them to America. Although other trials took place in North America in the 1600s, notably the Connecticut Witch Trials, no witch had been tried and executed since 1663. It was thought to be behind everyone, so when the hysteria in Salem began, it shocked and continues to shock people. As youll see in these witch hunt facts, no one was safe - not men, not women, not even the family pet

It's a simple concept basic logic if life is not free why the hell would death be any cheaper? Meaning whose souls and spirits have paid out are picking up the tab on all these moments of missed opportunity that have been allowed to occur in so many different aspects of life. The challenge in knowing this to be true is based off of one's ability to be able to live in accordance to validate such a belief form of physical mental financial spiritual accountability. And these points have been scientifically classified religiously verified. In layman's terms these problems have been effectively dealt with in a way that can only be consciously known. If one is doing their best to become physically fit mentally sound spiritually balanced being able to express physical freedom which is key for a person to be able to constantly consistently start living up to the pleasure potential responsibility of femininity and masculinity. For only at this level of body awareness does one actually naturally honestly have the self-control discipline loyalty devotion appreciation respect confidence playful determination to consciously acknowledge physically participate in being true towards love honor and the creation of life. in the way of marriage being a husband wife. Even more specifically currently here in the moment today Donald Trump and like-minded. who lack the physical mental knowledge capabilities of being able to ground and pound slip and grip into paradise so intensely intimately that it gets the soul and spirit off with no negativity attached maybe even in the free and clear.

Relatong to what is said at 6: 20, about Europe being into witch trials having been a thing for 3 centuries. that is false. Witch hunting has been going on forever. Nobody likes people who claim to be able to pit curses on you or your relatives. The Romans, the Celts, the Phoenicians, the Babilonians, the Hebrews. they all had anti-witch laws. In fact, the European laws for witch hunt directly came from the Roman law (and no, they weren't burned even during Christian times if not during a very specific time frame. Most of the times they were hanged. Burning was for heretics, not witches. So yeah, despite people putting this on Christians, this has been going for forever. Pagans didn't like them either, and nowadays there are huge misunderstandings about what was considered a witch and what wasn't. Spoiler alert: druids weren't considered as such. They were more priests, lawyers and judges (in their respective their own culture of course) rather than warlocks and such.

Of course there is an easy explanation for why the Salem With Trials occurred. As the narrator notes, the civilized world was abandoning the medieval tropes of spectral evidence and trying animals for witchcraft by the late 17th century. However, in Calvinist backwaters, such as Switzerland and New England, superstitions were clung to. They provided easy answers for the people's fears, and they allowed opportunists to seize property. The Salem Witch Trials should have stood as the turning point where the people of the USA realized the folly of religious superstition.
Unfortunately, the USA later gave the world the Millerite movement, the Scopes Monkey Trial and most recently we had prominent members of the clergy draping the winner of the 2016 presidential election in, literal, messianic praise. W still have a lost to learn.

You should do a video about the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. People flooded the area and the 1800s for the healing properties of the springs, but when the town started to decline a con artist from Chicago (I think it was Chicago) bought the hotel and opened up a hospital and claimed to be able to cure cancer through the power of a positive mindset. Obviously nobody was ever healed in a lot of people died there. Now it's a hotel again and they say it's haunted. They even have hotel staff and character give ghost tours. I took one when I went there it was pretty creepy.

For the record burning alive wasn't that common in Europe either. Many cases ended in fines or banishment. Of the ones that did end in execution it was more common to cut off their head or strangle them and then the body was burned to ensure it stayed dead. You're also wrong on an important point. While most of the witches were pardoned in 1693 five women who were executed were not pardoned until 2001. Bridget Bishop, Susannah Martin, Alice Parker, Wilmot Redd and Margaret Scott finally received pardons from the MA legislature in 2001.

Do I think something like the Salem Witch Trials can happen again? It happens all the time. Back in the 1980s we had the Satanic Panic, and we really havent recovered from it. To this day we have people who believe that there is a cabal of child killing satanists operating within the country. Is it as bad as it was back in the 80s? No. Back then even the media was spreading that BS. Will the next Salem Witch-hunt lead to executions? Probably not, but that doesnt mean that innocent peoples lives wont be devastated because of it.

Do you think something like the witch-trails could happen again?
I mean: The hunt for communists around the cold war is pretty spot on:
In more modern times we have (sadly) a lot of accusations following the me2 movement (people seeking attention, favorable positions and the likes by accusing folks they don't like or as said for attention) wich is really sad considering the actual abuse the movement was meant to uncover becomes burried in all nonsense of the most vocal ones.

9 thank you very much for a beautiful video. The one thing I was thinking as with all the people that was murdered I wonder who's family owned the house house and owning now that these people were murdered weren't allowed to get everything they owned that was stale it taken I wonder I know if I was one of the people murdered in my family I'd want everything back and more money back want all my money all my property everything I'd want it now have a good day

Looking at the list of names of the accused it was 25 women and 21 men not quite a 75/25 split. Every single accuser was a girl aged 9 to 18.
If anything this is a case of why we conduct investigations when someone is accused and don't just take the word of the accuser blindly.
The people of Salem believed all women and somehow we've turned that into a misogynistic act.

I bet a great deal of Americans are descendants of the accused Salem witches. One of my ancestors was one of those hanged for being a witch during the Salem witch hunt.
Any how, this just shows how little people change. Very few are willing to learn from terrible acts of humans in history. The cycle of paranoia and hatred still continues.

The men were called warlocks and one famous case where a pastor was accused he stood at the hanging tree and started praying the lords prayer which is something thought to be impossible by witches and warlocks. He was almost saved but some loudmouth convinced the crowd that it was a trick of the devil so they hsnged to poor guy anyways.

It was orchestrated as a land and resources grab, by the men in power. These stories were made up or encouraged by bored teenagers who were used by these men to steal land and resources.
Men in power still use these tactics today. Look at your local Masonic institutions and you will find influential men still practicing THE REAL CRAFT.

In recent US history there were the McCarthy trials of the 1950's, the satanic panic of the 1980's, and today there is the politically charged QAnon consiracy. Don't like your political rival? Just accuse him of being a Communist Satanic Pedophile. There are always plenty of foaming at the mouth rubes that will join in the hysteria.

It's like how the radical left keeps going after Trump! The radical left are using the FBI as tools to do their corrupt bidding! The Brandon administration is quickly turning tyrannical!
Yet the FBI doesn't investigate the true criminal, Hunter Biden and his lap top!
It is truly a witch hunt after President Trump!

There is a big plaque in Salem about Samuel Edson. He is a direct descendant of mine on my mother's side. I do believe he was my 6 th great grandfather. I have always wanted to go to Salem to learn more about it's history and walk it's old graveyards. I love history, especially dark, strange and weird history!

4: 51 - spectral evidence by supernatural dreams n visions
5: 43 - at least two dogs wer executed. One dog was accused of bewitching a girl. Othr dog was accused of being undr control of devil.
7: 58 - I read Giles Corey wouldn't plead guilty or innocent so they put stones 2 make him plead.

it's so disgusting 2 see how local town folks can become so delusionalised today. They can spread defamatory slander about their most hated in their communities, & these creative inspirational people can cause such delusional thinking as did those during the times of Salem witch trials

I live in Salem, work as a historical tour guide there, and am very passionate about Salem's history. I just have to say that this video was refreshing to watch. A lot of people get stuff very very wrong about the witch trials, and I appreciate this video very much.

Some cats as well were also accused of being witches. It wasn't just dogs. There are indeed many people in the U. S. and throughout the world who still practice witchcraft. They are called Wiccans and they observe the 8 sabbats throughout the year.
reply

We are the daughters of the witches you burned. Turns out they are the descendants of the accusers lmao, which makes more sense anyway poor people accusing the wealthy of witchcraft out of jealousy nooo that could never happen today!
