Weird History presents Timeline 1986 - we're going back to '86, prime 80s, when we would see terrible tragedies such as the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion and Chernobyl meltdown. But it wouldn't be all bad news, 1986 would also see such highlights as the inception of Pixar, Clint Eastwood became mayor and great movies like Top Gun and James Cameron's Aliens. Check out the news, sports, culture, and entertainment in the year 1986

my son was born in december of 85, so everyday of 86 was special, a new town, a new job, a loving wife and a son, no wars going on, everything seemed to be at peace, i know the year should have been 86'ed, but in my reality, 1986 was actually the best year of my life, now and with hindsight the year 2020 was the worst year of my life, i think the numbering of those to years should be switched, for 2020 was just filled with.
misery grief, and i really dont ever wish to look back, and 1986 i could reside there forever plus 2 days and forever be happy, didnt we bomb tripoli in 1986?

Spent most my youth in the 80s. Only regret is not actually being a little older (and wiser) so could have hit college around '86. All this nostalgia stuff reminds me how lucky I was to be when and where I was. Been binging these. Still can't believe Small Wonder got coverage, even if a blurb, while florescent parachute pants didn't. All the cool kids had them in 85/86. Needless to say I didn't, which in retrospect makes me happy we didn't have the money to keep up with fashion.

A fun fact, for you Phantom fans. If you notice there has never been a Broadway cast recording of Phantom. That's because on opening night in NYC, Mr. Lloyd Weber thought that the American reporters were rude to his wife, Sara Brightman and so he would not issue the rights for an American cast recording as punishment for those rude reporters.

Cher is so full of herself that it made me angry. She hasnt changed and its why I will no longer support her. Threw away everything I had on her (I knowI already bought it, so she wasnt hurt) but all future purchases are not provided. I have also shared with my ENTIRE family that will also not spend their hard earned dollars on this POS.

I was in Hands Across America. My family got a bunch of people from our little Massachusetts town to pool their money to charter a bus to NY to join the event. We made t-shirts for it. My cousin got heat stroke and I decided I would someday live in NY. I live in Brooklyn now.

Nararrator, please learn how to pronounce nuclear. there is no Q in nuclear. Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor made the same error in the movie Superman. You can put that tidbit in the 1978 part 2 weird history episode. Thanks, other than that, I am enjoying the episodes!

155. 40 was the cost of a year of HBO subscription at that time going for 12. 95 a month. Dude lost 5, 000. 00, his radio license and was on probation. If you want to play you gotta pay. You get what you pay for premium product is going to want a premium price.

I have a zippo lighter that was dated December 1986 or stamped as L II. It's the reason why I'm watching this video. Fantastic and very interesting year.

I hated 1986 worst year of my life up to that point and what happened would go on to ruin my life for the next 30 years. At least I wasn't alone.

Great video series! One small error though: The Berlin wall came down in 1989, not 1991. Germany is unified since October 1990.
