Still nothing on today's serial killers. We're talking about people hired to execute people vs people who just do it for their own sick thrill.
I can't remember dude's name, but a serial killer from California who would remove the eyelids of their victims so they can witness their own demise.
Now if that ain't some real fkery, then I don't know what is (besides American slavery & racism)

This executioner in particular is special because he was literate. He has led a diary over 45 or so years about his work and his life which is a really rare thing and was a revelation for the historian Joel F. Harrington who subsequently wrote the book The Faitful Executioner.
Also for people who are interested, check out Dan Carlin's Hardcore History episode Painfotainment

Wow. First big mistake already in the first sentence. The 16th century is not medieval times anymore! 16th century is in the midst of the renaissance! The images shown here are partially from medieval times and then from renaissance and even early baroque. Then later they talk about the Lutheran catechism. damn what disinformation just to get some clicks. XD

On a different account, executioners in medieval times, were shunned by society. They lived outside the town, away from people and when an execution was due, a representative of the authorities would knock at the executioner's door. Without even speaking to him, he would just throw the order of the execution on the ground and leave.

That's just sick. You're nursing a prisoner back to health only to execute him yourself?
That doesn't end well. One day the executioner will either turn into a sociopath who don't give a damn about those he killed. Viewing them as nothing but a job or he will snap and become utterly insane.

yeah the wheel, where they broke all your bones to use your arms and legs as ropes to tie you up to the wheel.
but the drowning part was special too, because they didn't let you down in water but in feces

Big mistake. A diary should be in the first person. You narrated the film in the third person. Bad choice. I'll struggle through a minute or 2 but it seems like a bad way to present an historical diary.

Of you where to do this, you would hang around afterwords, and not ignore those saying chop chop and hurry up. when your sweats boils, your arms burn from the axe. I'M HERE ALL WEEK!

A perfect job for a psychopath. An endless succession of people to enjoy murdering and no legal complications. And a healthy pension and burial among the geniuses of the community.

You use the diary of a 16th century executioner to describe the life of a medieval one. The painting you chose as your tag image is a 19th entry painting of a 1554 event.

I think the weirdest difference between people from hundreds of years ago and people living now, is that its extremely rare to see someone die in current times

How does the executioner scratch an itch on his nose or face with them masks. I love the graphic of the multiple hangings, each with a crown. A crown, really?

It would be beneficial to society if we returned to that system. We have both a crime and overpopulation problem. Public executions will help alleviate both.

Just a question, why did you dumb down the translation? The original and most faithful translation of the original text is by far more pleasing read.
