The Bizarre Saga Of When Jesse James's Corpse Went On Tour

Did you know that outlaw Jesse James's body was preserved on ice and people were able to look at his corpse before it was buried? A famous photo has made the rounds over the years showing the true, historical Jesse James body on ice, surrounded by a marshal and two deputies from St. Joseph, Missouri. There's nothing to debunk about this image - it's 100% what it seems like

(1) While it's true that large crowds viewed Jesse's body at Siddenfaden's funeral home, and later at Kearney, it's a stretch to suggest his body went on tour. He was killed on April 3rd and was buried 3 days later, on April 6th.
(2) Jesse's wife did NOT give tours of the house where he was killed, but stayed in a hotel until accompanying his body back to Kearney.
(3) Many of the photos used in this video are NOT of the persons claimed.
(4) The person calling himself Jesse James IV is NOT the g-grandson of Jesse W. James, but the son of Orvus Lee Howk, who adopted the name Jesse James III after fraudulently claiming to be the grandson of Jesse W. James.
(5) J. Frank Dalton's debunked story evolved over the years. He first claimed to have been Jesse's friend, then his cousin, and finally to being Jesse himself. (He also claimed to have been a Canadian fighter pilot in World War 1, when he would have been in his late 60s)

jesse was a coward who relied on mommy like the baby he was. thats the best death a coward could ask for. he shouldve been hog tied and dragged through that town where he shot that 16 year old boy who took cover. dragged by his ankles, taking every piece of his crappy guns apart and give them to the citizens as trophys while every one spits and urinates on him. and thats MORE than what james deserves. he deserves nothin. hes a coward and a baby who called for mommys help. mommy the big bad government said i rob bankies! TELL THEM MOMMY! TELL THEM I DONT ROB BANKIE WANKIES!
and thats your favorite outlaw. while he was tuckin tail, bob younger had 8 bullets in him still goin out in a blaze for them betraying his brother. whatd jesse do? ran. like the coward he is. he ran. idgaf who shot him in the chest when he was younger, its his actions and mentality that kill his legacy.

Infamous gangster and Lufthansa Heist mastermind Jimmy Burke (on whom Robert De Niro's character in Goodfellas was based on) named his sons after Frank and Jesse James. That line from Goodfellas But what Jimmy really loved to do was steal. I mean, he actually ENJOYED it! is an understatement. If naming your own sons after a couple of America's most famous thieves doesn't prove your love of the craft, I don't know what does.

WHEN Someone figures out HOW a 45 cal round at a distance of 6ft dosent go through completly his head, the wall and the outside boards, Id like to hear it. Yes, A Lincoln was killed with a 45 at around 3ft distance, and that ball stayed in his head, BUt, Cap and ball pistols, ESPECIALLY derringers with no ramrod, likely wernt packed as tightly as a tailer made shell

You missed the best part of the exhumation: they dug up the wrong body! They accidentally dug up the grave next to Dalton. They realized this because the body was missing an arm. That missing arm also has its own grave at the same cemetery! Watch Ask a Morticians video on this topic for more

Have you done one about the Pinkertons? All kinds of good history in the old West. Annie Oakley, Calamady Jane, the Buffalo girls, Wild Bill Hickock and his traveling show. Wyatt Earp and the shoot out at the OK corral, Doc Holiday, of course Billy the Kid would be a good one.

Great video as usual. I live in Kearney, MO (Jesse James hometown. You can still visit his boyhood home and farm. As you probably would guess everything in the town is named after him. We even have the Jesse James festival. Every town has their role model

Lmaooo Dick Liddle puhhhhleaseeeee! This man had no choice but to be a criminal or at the very least live under a rock for his entire life! Lmaoooo poor guy! His parents are pure comedians for pulling that stunt.

It seems to me as if he knew he was going to be killed. It just doesn't make sense that a smart man could be killed so easily. Unarmed? Suspicions? Dusting a picture frame & turning his back? Doesn't add up

I come from the area where the James Gang often hid out and also worked near where they held their first robbery in Liberty, Missouri. Also went to Kearney (where Jesse is buried) and saw the family house.

Hello Bob! . That was what Billy the Kidd said when shooting at a deputy! Am I on to something here? Hey, one of my paintings is dusty, better clean it, what's the worst that could happen? < gunshot>

How many unarmed people did Jesse James shoot in the back? James rode with Bloody Bill he was known for attacking and killing Kanas farmers women and children made no difference.

Only in America do we give glory to outlaws and reenact the whole thing in tiny towns to gain profit. Oh wait, profiting off criminals. ya the tradition remains alive on modern times.

Its odd hearing my town be mentioned in one of these videos lol.

That a normal distance, in this part of the country, my family graveyard is an hour drive away. Most people have graveyards where the bulk of their families are buried.
