Rainbow Man & His Deeply Troubled Life

If you watched sports games between the 70s and 80s, there's no doubt Rollen Stewart, aka The Rainbow Man, serves as a familiar face. Often seen carrying his iconic John 3: 16 sign and wearing a rainbow colored wig, Rollen became a fixture in American sports culture. But the truth to his life, and where he is today, is far darker than his smiling face on the jumbotron would have you believe.

Why do all weirdos have to come from USA. We know u guys have a monopoly on wealth, business, sports, IT, music, Hollywood and almost everything. But weirdos. Can't u leave some entertainment for the rest of the world. Something we can say oh that's from my country. No but u want it all. What a bunch of losers.

Well no wonder he was thrown in a Moscow jail in 1984. Here was this nut case running around Moscow in a rainbow wig looking for the summer Olympics. which were actually underway in Los Angeles. I know, I know. the Moscow Olympics were held in 1980 - interesting considering the U. S. boycotted that year.

Kinda crazy that after allowing the lord to take control of his life, god would use his body to take a maid hostage at Hyatt Regency Los Angeles. Then again, the lord works in mysterious ways, I guess, but as they say in the good book: I just whipped your ass! -- Austin 3: 16(tm)

Uhhhh, what? Why does he want to have a marijuana farm while growing the largest mustache? Doesn't make any sense! Also, gotta love that wierd stock photo of a guy with a really long mustache being all like yeah I have a longer mustache than yours, keep walking!

Video: If you were watching sports in the 70s & 80s Chances are you are of rainbow man, but he wasnt just a sports nut
Me- oh this should be a fun wholesome episode
Video: but hes serving 3 consecutive life sentences
Me: oh. okay then

You say wanting to grow the world's longest mustache was a sign of mental illness? You underestimate the popularity of the Guinness Book of World Records back then. Everybody wanted to be in it.

Thumbs up! I always wonder who that was holding up a Johh 3: 16 sign during 70's - 80's basketball games. It's rare if anyone sees that today but the Gospel scripture still holds truth.

He reminds me of the 'Fan Man' James Miller who infamously parachuted into the Holyfield-Bowe II fight and onto the roof of Buckingham Palace
Sadly he took his own life in 2002

3 consecutive life sentences is overtly excessive. Meanwhile, there are murderers and serial rapists getting 30 years. The American court justice system is really something, huh?

That guy was a nothing but a pest, we get together to watch the game and this self-absorbed attention seeking asswipe is running around trying to get camera time. We hated him.

Wow I remember his time on tv. But I had know idea what ever happened to him. What a shocker ending. Thanks for the research.

The fact that he was throwing up 666 hand sign while wearing a John 3: 16, tells me he was riddled with demons. Used for mockery

Good gravy! I once had my picture taken with this jack ass sometime around 1980 at a golf tournament in Akron Ohio.
reply

Did anyone ever ask him if he had any hand in the deaths of his family? I mean. seems like he snaps kinda easily
reply

as a kid, i remember him at some of the 1980 us hockey games from the 1980 winter olympics in lake placid.

You know things are going to get bad when someone goes to thousands of sporting events but hates sports.
reply

I was 13 years old when rainbow man got arrested. What a life waisted. He should have taken a plea deal.
reply

So he made 3: 16 popular not steve Austin he should of just took the sentence he would of been out in 12
