The Mind-Blowing Story of Devils Hole, An Eerie Alien Geology On Earth

There's something about enormous caverns that captures humanity's imagination, and Devils Hole in Death Valley National Park is one of the strangest natural formations in the world. Devils Hole has a unique natural ecosystem and is home to an isolated fish species which doesn't exist anywhere else. Its waters also act like a natural earthquake sensor that can detect vibrations from as far away as Japan, Chile, and Indonesia.

I live just a few miles from here. Just wanted to mention for the record, that Devils Hole is NOT in Death Valley. In fact, it is many miles from the park. The park system decided to make this small patch of land where Devil's Hole is, a Death Valley location only because it was easier and quicker than giving the area its own national designation. They wanted it to fall under the same protections as the park. But the reality is, Death Valley is a long way away from Devil's Hole and saying it's in Death Valley is a bit of a misnomer. Technically yes, but the reality is no.
My daughter's, friend's husband is one of the divers that go in periodically to count fish. What a job!

We need submersible drones to explore places like this. Though they would probably have to be hardwired, as a signal isn't going to travel far through water and rock, and the wire/cable could potentially enable you to retrieve the submersible if there was a major problem. However the wire could. get caught on something and would create a lot of drag for the submersible. I don't know why this technology isn't in use yet.

There is another cave with rare fish, fish that egzist only in those iviroments. thats in Slovenia (former Yugoslavia Republic Repablic) I've been there long time ago but you go by litlle train around the cave and you see the fish that doesnt look like ordinarily fish in a blueish ponds, but like little animals (as I remember it as a child.

Again with the climate change? It's a UN scam to redistribute the world's wealth. The UN and wef want a socialist utopia. Climate change is not happening. Certainly not caused by humans anyway. Scientists couldn't stop the China virus from spreading around the world, but they're going to change the climate? Wake up people.

They said the diver who tried to retrieve the 2 men went down more and seen a huge underwater currant that was connected to tunnels that probably jet out to the ocean. Anything that gets near that will be shredded by the tunnel walls. If the divers drowned and sunk that deep tyen the currant probably took them

It's not that people aren't brave enough to go down all the way, it's that they probably couldn't withstand the pressure and it's hard to get enough tanks of oxygen and hydrogen (i think it's hydrogen or maybe it's argon) down there to sustain them. Cave diving is incredibly dangerous for a million reasons.

I've wondered how viable it would be to drill a shaft down to Brown's Room to use it as a jumping off point for further exploration without disturbing the endangered fish. Maybe modern aquatic drones can then be sent to explore the enormous chamber that divers haven't dared to enter.

Just an FYI. Climate change first reared its head over 4 billion years ago when the earth formed and has been with us ever since. Remember, the only thing constant is change. Don't worry though. We've managed to survive 200 million years of constant change.

Come on, now. First you say that people are drawing off the fresh water that feeds Devil s Hole then you say that the tunneling may go thousands of miles based in earth quakes affecting the water levels. You can only have it one way.

Would I dive in Devil's Hole? Well, I served on submarines and so am willing to dive to great depths with the right technology. But not for too long please, those 90-day excursions get sort of dicey. Talk about hell on Earth.

Luckily, our goobermints have interceded for us so if we just send them more cash for carbon offsets and tax offerings to the climate gods, their anger will be calmed and they will spare those cute little pupfishies.
reply

no I wouldnt dive in it, but with the state of the art drone technology I would not be surprised if there's not a plan, if not already happened, to send a instrument laden micro-sub down there to get more information

Global warming is a hoax. Do you REALLY think Obama and all his cronies would've bought beach front property in Martha's Vinyard if they were worried about the sea level rising dramatically in their lifetimes?
reply

I suppose this is the proper forum for me to say that when I was a kid, I figured that if you dug a hole deep enough, you would dig your way all the way to Hell.
reply

I can see why it's called 'Devils Hole', it looks like it could be the entrance to the underworld. Would be a cool setting for a subterranean movie!
