For Columbus, I think we should realize three things the first a big chunk of the negative stuff was composite by the guy who was his successor and if there’s one thing we know about similar situations tech stuff with grain of salt, the second the Spanish are one of the most well-known examples of Catholics destroying anything they consider pagan and not being friendly to other religions. Columbus was not on very good terms with the Jewish people to the point that some people even think he was Jewish, plus he didn’t convert the natives on the islands. He was out on that does sound like something. The same people who would destroy hundreds of Aztec and Maya books in a couple decades would not see as a good thing. and the last part. Columbus was removed from power in the Caribbean in 1499. And the Spanish conquest of the Americas really start off. 1519 with some earlier prelude to the Maya, two years earlier now, considering that the historians who wrote of the conquest of the Aztecs for Spain, downplay native allies and presented the idea that they fought the Spanish were divine beings. Is it really that much of a stretch to think that they would make Columbus look bad for, basically wasting seven years while he was in charge and considering that he and his brother may have met the Maya not long after he was removed from power, but didn’t follow them to their homeland another nearly 2 decades without the Spanish getting rich

That's because people value emotions over facts. Of course almost any historical character will fail holding up to contemporary values, that doesn't make them bad people, we just pretend our set of values is intrinsically correct and everyone who doesn't adhere to them must be in the wrong. But getting to where we are now took thousands of years of step by step developments, and the people that took those steps brought us to where we are now. Yes, they were not perfect, but they tried to advance humanity in countless ways. It's an ever developing process and I recon people looking back at contemporary humanity in a few centuries will also feel like we failed in many regards.

Lincoln suspending habeus corpus is true. I grew up near Baltimore, MD, visited the Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry many times. During the Civil War, Maryland was technically a neutral state, but still had plenty of Southern sympathizers and was a still slave state (bit of trivia: Harriet Tubman was born and raised on a plantation on the Eastern Shore. Since the Port of Baltimore was and remains one of the busiest shipping ports on the Eastern Seaboard, Lincoln ordered that the cannons at Ft. McHenry be pointed toward Baltimore to prevent anyone from getting any ideas about not supporting the Union.

0: 39 I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska on and off for ten years, it is the biggest city named after Abraham Lincoln.
Jana Duggar just moved to Lincoln (initially it was hinted that she was moving to Milford) to the Northwest part.
There is a chance she will go to my nursing college (Southeast Community College) as she started nursing school in Arkansas but left because she was getting married and moving.

Nietzsche said that in history there are no facts, only interpretations. All of us were not alive when these historical figures lived. We only read about them and from there we derived any interpretation. We can say a person was good but others can say well actually the person wasn't that good or great.

I zipped through the video looking for the Christopher Columbus part, I’m Puerto Rican. Very misleading. I expect that type of clickbait from garbage videos, really disappointing guys. Especially coming from our fabled Narrator that everyone holds in such high regard.

Interesting to hear about Obama ragging on Lincoln in the past and seeing the democrats praising Lincoln at the dnc. I guess he is unaware that the southern democrats were the people who tried to split the country during the Civil War.

Would've loved to actually see Columbus in this one since he's in the thumbnail. It's one of the reasons I clicked on it since we're covering him in our homeschool this week
