Better then tunnels around the globe. But colliding with eachother is not safe, also for people on he surface. Maybe we can built a inflatable cushion around the car (like an outside airbag) when you collide with one onother, so the can fall on the ground softly. But please no propellers, but an inside electric motor or something that way would save the birds.
The cars made of light material (like carbon) which will bring less injuries both in the car and people on the groundm or causes damage on buildings. One problem left, how can i lay down in the sun without cars in the air? And what if they make very loud noises? I do not prefer cars for 24 hours a day above me. It takes away all the sight to the sky.

That's if you assume if you don't have more physical clues which probably wouldn't happen. It's not because a car is flying that it's not traveling in anything physical. Carbon fiber cues and clues with electromagnetic technology that were not visible to the most physical eyes to the touch would be the solution. Graphene for example is an excellent idea. This would already avoid accidents, technical problems and the question of how you would be put by the police, since now the streets would be -invisible-. Because we would have streets, avenues and roads still, but they won't be visible to anyone outside one of these cars. Problem solved.

What if the flying car is tethered to ground electric cable with regulated cable lenght fully automatic. Like tethered to a free rolling pantograph same to electric train. Both car and big drone will have a battery for emergency purpose enough for safe landing. And electric car when detached from drone will have a regulated max speed just to complete the first mile and last mile travel. Just to decongest at least 30% of road traffic, let say only selected individual to be permitted to have one ---

Humans are collectively too dumb to have nice things like this & further advance technologically as a society.

We'll have to recycle car batteries and start mining in space, or make them hybrid vehicles if we want flying cars in our society.
And we'll have to deal with some people dropping litter off the window. I often see people dropping cigarete butts off the windows and deal with litter falling from the sky.

Flying cars are an excellent idea.
They would unburden traffic, extinguish hit-and-run, relieve noise pollution, be a faster and more efficient way to travel, extinguish the need for streets and physical avenues saving cities money, and also bringing more opportunities for pedestrians walked quietly.

Hey, Ai automatic can drive it alone and flying cars is automatic charging even while flying, and ai can automatic can avoid accidents too, and humans can't drive it, but they can only command the ai where they want to go.

Just I do not think everyone in the future can have flying Car's. Pilots License would always be needed. Flying Car's are more expensive to purchase and high insurance rates.
