Get more insightful information about living in a biosphere with Jane Poynter: What if we took everything that sustains life on this planet, and shrunk it down to one small bubble? Earth's biosphere stretches about 20 km (12 mi. From the deep-sea vents in the ocean into the atmosphere. This is where almost all life exists. If we ever want to live in space, or settle Mars, we will have to recreate this extremely complex system. What would you eat? Would you have garbage? What would be the biggest threat to your health?

Food problems? = combination of Vertical hydro/aquaponics = Veggies and meat fish, no soil or pesticide needed and requires less space than traditional farming
Oxygen and carbon dioxide problem? = algae cultivation, trees and carbon capture technology?
Water? = water treatment/Fog collection.
Bio waste? = Biodigester that produce biogas, Black soldier fly larvae use for cleaning organic waste while producing larvae that can be used as live feeds for fish and other livestocks.
Energy = Solar panel, Biogas.
Pest = If its really a simulated environment then maybe you should also introduce other species to balance the prey and predators.

I successful biosphere would need specialists in many fields, plus regular people to do the cleaning, agriculture, taking care of the animals, as well as people naturally entertaining to defuse the conflicts and keep the peace. Would probably need to be a lot bigger than their thinking. Have shifts working around the clock and not giving up when things started to get bad figure out how to solve them quickly and be ready for similar future failures. 120 people doing a 10 year study inside one.

I think the water was the reason made biosphere fail. Too much water was the problem. Use less water to reduce vapor and don't t take shower but only dry clean and use zero waste toilet and also use electrical cook to reduce oxygen depletion, use water vapor for tree live and not water. Dried by using electric dried or roasted all waste before put it back into compost

Algae for oxygen?
Vermiculture for manure?
Mealworms for complete protein & Vitamin B12?
Some cockroaches are edible at least by insects that are more edible to humans?
Recycle water with carbon and passive solar?
Thank you

The goat will eat all your vegetables and you need to get them pregnant constantly to get the milk since it's made first for their babies, then you'll have more goats to feed and you'll end up with just goats

How can you not live in a biodome Can only go so far in this ocean But you can survive outta space with no problems even for months. That's like how in the hell Egyptians are all white in the land of black.

I sort of feel like that in my little apartment in downtown Hamilton mostly because I'm disabled a stroke and cardiac arrest and colon cancer survivor and use a wheelchair when I'm outside

only GOD can create such complex environment like EARTH. humans cant even recreate a single strand of hair so how are we suppose to recreate a miniature earth. just my opinion!

You probably might only need 2 or 3 football fields of vegetables and vegetation. And you could create your own pollinating equipment and solution.

I would hope someone Considered Earth's electro static ability to stratify gasses and plasma to adjust excess gasses into something more useful

P, s I fixed my mistake

Ok. I hate eating vegetables and fruit. I'm a carnivore kind of person. I'd refuse to live there. I'd rather die out in the earth atmosphere

The design and thin line of balance of our world is amazing. If you considered the vast complexities, you must believe in a Divine Creator.

The sad part is that they weren-t even scientist and one of them left for medical attention and came in with 2 duffel bags cheated

what if all living species including us we're petrified without knowing the cause?
(based on anime named dr. stone)

The people who believe that earth and life on earth came into existence accidentally should at least watch this video.

Imagine if the next social experiment would be to recreate an artificial world of 15 miles in diameter in space.
reply

In order for a biodome to be sustainable, it would probably have to be at least several kilometers in diameter.
reply

They should use Aeroponics or Vertical Gardening in Biosphere's to help take up less space. Just an idea: 3

A new vid suggestion maby?
What if we made a experiment that allows us to live forever with out aging

reply

I wouldn-t recommend rice. It takes up a lot of water and you can only harvest it at different seasons.
