Well one of my most favorite games that don't have much story in it but instead lets you explore your own story and other people don't like it bc it just drops you in with a backstory and that's all is SUPER METROID it was the first game that i played with barely any story at all but at the same time it showed me what Nintendo could do at that time with it's enviroments my favorite Final Fantasy of all time is FF6 btw and i absolutely loved Bioshock 1 and 2 Dead Space tried to do the samething.

5. Jak and Daxter games - I loved the dialog from Daxter, and the platforming gameplay
4. Battlefield 3 - Letting you play as a spetsnaz, and not portraying them as the bad
3. Call of Duty Black Ops - The twist with Reznov, and Mason. I wish to see more of Reznov in the black ops 3
2. Skyrim - Bethesda did what they do best, and pulled you in. Each quest had a different story and you wanted to keep on going
1. Uncharted series - Simply amazing

I feel the games of the last 10 years have focused more on characters rather than an actual story. Bioshock, The Walking Dead, Portal, Mirror's Edge and others are all games with good characters, but there wasn't much at stake that your own character actually took part in. I much prefer games like Final Fantasy or Shadow of the Collosus that have your character take part in an epic quest rather than one of personal achievement.

Legacy of Kain series people Defiance especialy. After 10 years none of the games can handle the amount of twist these games had and the world they were in. Probably why i was bored with (M)Ass Effect been there seen that. Not even close, and just to make things worse it had linear story and it was far more surprising and satisfying than most of modern games.

First game that came into my head when before I pressed play was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.
I'm really pleased that it got a mention, perhaps it deserved a higher position but nonetheless there are not enough -gamers- that would even acknowledge it, therefore you have earned Kudos!

I think the first Black Ops deserves a mention. so for me 5 Black ops 4. Assassins Creed 3. Metal Gear Solid 2. Bioshock 1. Skyrim. Purely due to the fact I will still come back to it and spend hours doing other side missions.

But to me when i was playing it since it had cutscenes at certain points in the game pertaining to the story itself it felt like a Video game and a Movie into one format or media.

where the heck is metal gear series. holy crap. play that game its like watching a movie and reading a book. you are older than me i guess you should have played it already.

Pokemon all the way, I mean why didn't they mention it in this? It has one of the most immersive stories I've played in a while (not the new ones, 4th generation and under)
