Just a $5000 faceting machine. and a $120 plus copper lap shown Lol. It's awesome this guy is able to replicate these cuts so well. I am a noob in the gem world, I love fancy color sapphire like parti multicolor sapphires and fancy tanzanite colors best. really want to try cutting. My profile picture is a rough 3. 8 CT Australian blue on teal. It is sitting on a white paper cone, on a flashlight. I LOVE how the color of the light turns that color blue when the beam passes through it. It's what I call -led blue- because it is the same color as blue led when lit up. Getting them cut is problematic. I trust the cutter but not the mail or parcel services. soon. one way or another this and it's friends will be meet point faceted with extremely high final polish. How long did it take to learn to be able to replicate famous diamonds accurately?

This is just silly to cut a replica diamond and using the same angles as the original gem is, I-m sure he isn-t cutting synthetic diamonds because of the faceting machine he uses which couldn-t withstand a diamond of any kind. so he is probably cutting quartz or another material with different optical properties. So even if all the angles are the same the gems will look completely different because of how light reflects differently because of the angles and the gems optical properties. I-m not sure what took him so much time to cut those gems although I respect his dedication you can make a better replica by just replicating the cut and facets by eye and not take month to cut a gem that would take only three days to cut and finish

That chrysocolla sample is stunning. Not only is it a very large one, the richness of the color is exceptional. Common pieces, small enough to fit in your palm, would go for $30 to $40 and have an irregular texture. I wouldn't even dare to try and put a price on the one shown here. It's surely 4 figures or more.

The thing I noticed most was the fact there was no side by side comparison. The examples shown could be replicated in exceptionally higher quality in a number of materials including a number of natural stones. I guess I just dont get it.

That first replica/real comparison is two totally different diamond cuts, the video producers could at least have compared the replica with the diamond it was actually modelled after. Just looks like a lazy and sloppy video otherwise.

This Obsessed series reminds me a lot of my aunt, who makes tiny knitted garments. She's very good at what she does and has gotten a lot of media attention for it. She actually made Coraline's sweater for Coraline.

The fact that he explains the purpose of his art with an unfaceted sample of a non-precious mineral shows he is 100% passionate and committed to his art, not just the glamour of cut gemstones.

This gentleman is a genius! It is always great to see those who put so much love and effort into what they do that they end up creating master pieces such as these replicas. Great job Mr!

I have a lap machine and have been polishing stones, just semi precious. Cabochons. I've been fascinated (pun intended) with precious gem cutting. Maybe someday I will learn.
