Didn't Saurfang actually win, though? He goaded her into revealing her true nature, which leads to the end of the war, saving countless lives in the process. So, she -lost- the war, and lost the chance to feed more souls to the maw. That's why you can see him smile when she says -The horde is nothing-. For all her power, even after killing him - she lost.

im starting to think that this was all a set up. That she and him both knew what exactly they was doing, her goal was to drive the factions together, not apart. She knew where saurfang would end up thus knowing how to bring him back OR atleast make things right. Has to be.

I think people dont realize the rez used in the cinematic is not from death but from near death. So Anduin can't rez because varok died quickly and also it was a hero's death to begin with.
