Wage Labour and Capital by Karl Marx - FULL AudioBook Greatest AudioBooks 1: 20 mark of the video shows where Karl Marx went really wrong in his theory. He started going wrong at the 1: 16 mark with his zero-sum gain idea. He didnt live long enough to see how the tremendous increases in technology and productivity that came from a capitalist economy would increase the real wages of all workers. He saw increases in capital technology as decreasing the real wage of workers when in fact history shows the opposite happened.
I understand how Marx could think the way he did at his time and thats not his fault because he did not have the historical perspective that we have now.
Edit-
At the 1: 22 mark he shows what his real problem with capitalism is, envy. He just didnt like that the capitalist was improving his standard of living faster than the laborer. So his solution was to install a system where everybody becomes poorer including the laborer.
Im wise enough to know that the capitalists doing better improves my real wages and makes my standard of living better without me having to do a thing, not lift so much as a finger, and still get a better standard of living.
1: 41 1: 42 marks show Marx being wrong again because history has shown that markets have exploded with more markets and more variety of markets than ever.

As a capitalist I always like to go back and listen to Marx. It helps me understand where the opposition gets their thought process from. The Bolshevik revolutionists parading around Portland and other big cities. As a capitalist and an employer I fight like hell to keep as much money into my employees pocket as possible a well-paid employee gets the tasks done efficiently and with a smile. I don't believe all capitalists are out to make their employees poor. What the marxists don't recognize is the 80 hour work weeks for years before the business got off the ground. The risks of business failure is great. some of us never reach that wealth plateau. some fail miserably and become homeless. the employer could be sued to Oblivion. or the business could fail so hard it can't pay it's bills and the ends up going bankrupt or owing debt for years after with nothing to show for it. No the worst problem with capitalism is government control over our currency.

I would really like some opinions or additional information to my comment. Am I missing something I just listened to another Karl Marx book and now I’m listening to this one. Karl Marx tries to explain how a laborers wages might be three shillings a day for six hours but somehow he is magically expected to work 12 hours for the same three shillings and that seems to be the basis for Karl Marxs argument. I’m starting to learn Karl Marx wrote in a time where surf labor was actually still a thing but completely not applicable currently. I’m trying to put all this together and figure out the logic in all of this. So many people seem to love it but it just doesn’t make sense.

That the value of silver falls in relation to the increasing price of products is a very insightful comment. People, I think, can become star-stricken by money, considering it to be some special commodity which is outside the forces of trade value. In its defence, we /do/ try to use money as a universal standard, but it's important to remember that it has a value just as does bread.

Socialiam then: we have identified inequalities between the workers and the capitalists, amongst other things - the relationahips between work, money, purchasing power etc.
Socialists today: my pronouns are she/zem, I demand access to female bathrooms and imprisonment of all white males

Engels is incredibly underappreciated. Simply by introducing the concept of labor-power in just a few paragraphs, he manages to explain how automation under capitalism necessarily leads to slavery conditions, when an increase in productivity should be precisely the opposite.

Now both partners must work and use credit just to survive. Terrible exploitation is still the norm in spite of computers and high technology transportation. Marx was right. In our civilization explotation of labor is even worse.

The more I advance in hearing the book, the harder it becomes for me to listen. Not because of any technical failure in the book or anything else, but the more emotionally angry I become on Capitalism. Hijos de puta.
