Sci-Fi Marathon - An Hour of Sci-Fi Short Films - Sunday Night DUST

Join the live chat as we watch an hour of sci-fi - every Sunday at 7pm PST Neither scientists nor science based sci-fi can promise our earth or the human race a good future. We have raped our planet and are starting to suffer and predict the horrible outcomes. Planet Earth will survive for five billion years but oxygen breathers will be extinct in about a billion years. Us humans will be extinct within forty generations. CXL in Roman numerals = 140 decimal; the old lady, kept alive by surgical appliances has no quality of life. Twenty two million prisoners in forty years, 550 thousand per annum, is a reasonable estimate for the USA who currently keep 2% of their population in prison; more than the rest of the world combined!

CXL is like a great understanding of life, because life is like a great book, your most loved book, it starts by drawing you in, with experiences you agree or disagree with, then some filler side line characters, maybe a great love, followed buy loss of a main character or two, then a great ending, an ending that makes you love that book, and reread it several times maybe even once a year, life is like that, and your end, is the final passage of your story, embrace it, don't feer it, it's totally natural, part of us, and part of the univers, part of time, part of the story of mankind.

49: 10 As this part of 'Expo' is supposed to be located on the moon, why is there lying in the foreground a cam-shaft from an internal-combustion engine!
Also, I'm impressed with how good mobile-reception is up there, with absolutely no delay despite the Moon being 384, 400 km from Earth (the response to someone broadcasting from the Moon isn't heard until after about 2. 5 secs from the end of transmission!

Wow the makeup on CXL was SOOO bad it was hard to determine the actors expressions, and who paints up young girls like that anymore - I know it is all the rage to paint up little boys, but I thought we were done with that with girls. Everyone praises these poor undeveloped premises masquerading as a story. I do not. I think I need to be done with dust

I find these incredibly well made, short science fiction films poignant and probable, perhaps even happening right now with secret space programs, lol,
But I think everyone can agree that our future, unless a great awakening of all people happens, will be pretty bleak, with corporations running and governing every aspect of our lives!

This dystopian narratives are outdated. Reality shows an entirely different picture. Poverty went down from 99% to 30%. Population growth from 11% to 2% annually and will evetually stop at the death rate. Earth is greening. Why are you folks unable to write a story that is not based on this ugly fantasies Are you all left wing
reply

maybe I'm an idiot, but nothing made sense, its like a modern art painting, you can say anything you like about it and it will be true. sorry, but some guys spent a lot of time making these, and I can't find a story that makes sense. it seems that dark, out of focus, jumbled up frames are ok, but not to me.

All of these films were great, but as a mechanic, I did notice the camshaft on the lunar surface. Must be from one of those apollo moon missions where they deliberately crashed the lander back on the surface when they were done with it. lol

Lunar: Instead of spending $billions on law-enforcement, penal-transportation & enslavement, why not spend the money on providing for needs of those less fortunate! That sort of punishment for stealing a loaf of bread is so 18th century!
reply

I'm new to dust (just over a week or so) and I've been blown away by how good its been. This one though, not so good (only my opinion) and the amount of adverts are ridiculous at times, but it is worth it. Keep it coming people, thanks!

The one called CXL, great make up on the lady. She looks about 150 but the makeup dept didn't put anything on her hands bcoz when she went to press some buttons her fingers looked like a 20yr olds lol. Still good though.

In the episode expo in the fore ground, u can see a cam that appears to have come out of an eight cylinder engine. U can see almost all of the lobes. This is visible when they are on the planet in the sites. LoL.

Detroit, 2029is a fantastic premise! Totally out of the BOX thinking. It is so rare to experience a new thought THANK YOU for the story, video and the wonderment, so seldom it occurs in2019, let alone in 2029
reply

In the EXPO video, at 51: 38 there is an automotive camshaft sitting on the ground at the bottom of the screen. I think is is from an old Chevy four cylinder engine. Kudos to the prop guys!

Some come with info about the basic premise of the story & some don't, why not all of them
These are short stories and having the basic scenario before hand, saves time & confusion.

reply

Just into the first one.
What's the point of putting text on the screen if it can't be read by the viewer or said aloud/printed legibly by closed captioning

reply

I can't help but get the feeling some of these comments are paid for. Not sure why. This is one hour of my life well spent after a trip to the dentist Friday.
reply

Why do they use young people to play old people Are there no old actors/actresses I find it odd that many productions use a younger person in make up.
reply

Lunar is dumb. How did he find out anything, see something he shouldn't have and make his one phone call, all without ever getting off the ship
reply

You do not need to be as morally inapt as a computation device to understand just how wealth demanding these privilaged only
reply

I didn't get the first one called Lunar. It went by so fast. It seems they put the title up and then. it was over.
reply

Expo must have worked with no budget films. MX under pading, road racing boots, an automotive camshaft as landscape
reply

I was going to watch this but I see how many commercials there were and decided not to. That's way too many.
reply

again. you draw the future one will never ever want to live. What the hell with you guys Are you all nuts there
reply

Dust is Dust only because don't fall in the same mistakes how Hollywood, that persist in see the public how zombies.
reply

I hope I have the will to die a dignified death when that time comes. Godbless us all. Peace be with you.
reply

DUST is the reason ive moved to UTUBE for my entertainment. and you DUST ARE INCREDIBLE. thank you
reply

I enjoy a lot of these Dust fims! They are of such high quality and made by brilliant people!
reply

Hilarious!
Scenario is total f. up, but acting is great if you got that f. up scenario.

reply

Man reality has changed quite a bit since I landed on this little backwater space rock back in 74.
reply

I want to give it a thumbs down JUST because it's not long enough! can't get tired of this one.
reply

All the messed up buildings and shit looks like it does right now nothing has changed to that town
reply

635PM PST would’ve been pretty good if it wasn’t for the socially mal-developed guy.
reply

Sound is bad. Much of the dialogue is unintelligible. Expo was particularly garbled.
reply

Closed Captioning provided by Dragon. (heavily errored captioning in that last film)
