I'm in my 70s and still working. My job involves working with people
decades younger. Many of my coworkers are in there late teens and
several just graduated from high school.
I can tell you that most of the younger employees are finding it hard
to establish any kind of relationship. I suspect many of the young
guys I work with have yet to get laid and have no plan to make that
happen.
So I suspect that as these guys get a bit older that they will become
part of a pool of guys who will become potential customers for this
AI/Robotic combination if and when it becomes available.
I can see Kiosks where these young guys can offer up a credit card
to spend a few hours with one of these surrogates of sorts.
How very sad but given what I see it's very likely the future.
Fortunately, I will not live long enough to be a part of it.

Well, well, well, this was a pretty-pretty-pretty good movie. To be honest Marcus, it was also a bit Everyman's dream of having a woman, a partner like her. Maybe that's the reason humans are keen to copy themselves having a perfect and ideal picture of their inner soul-bird, without all that dayli-live-long stress in which we stuck.
And this is supposed to be the biggest problem with AI. We never will have a perfect copy of us in any robot until we are not perfect enough and in harmony to each other human first. Because no-one knows or feels the consequences yet.

Once again you nailed it! The writing, filming and acting were superb, especially the chemistry between the two leads! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
HOWEVER: I’ve complained this several times in the past! PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT MINIMIZE AND SPEED UP THE CLOSING CREDITS! I find that the info included in them to be really important. Please re-think this and show the closing credits in full screen and not sped up! Many thanks!

To be fair, what will even be the point of women anymore when the AI has a realistic female body.
Women will be binned.
Imagine dating a woman that is supportive, understanding, warm, friendly, accepting, intelligent and exploratory with your interests, instead of what we currently have - an absolutely over-privileged, entitled, selfish, unstable nightmare person.

This was very well done. Excellent film. However, it would have been more novel to switch the roles and have the robot be male. There have been so many depictions of women as the robot or object, it would have be a creative departure to portray something different. Still good though, though expected.

Maybe its the romantic in me but I would have wanted her to deactivate in front of me. In my arms to be more precise. Another thing this film brings up. There are many men out there so desperate for a relationship and affection that they would be willing to accept an artificial substitute like this.

OMG i was in tears at the end. That was so amazing. And at the same time so confronting about what the future possibilities could be. If i lost my wife. i would never want another human to take her place. But a amazing being like rebecca could be a possiblity. It i live long enough to see it.

I wish the personality-harddrive at the end wasn't there, because the weird thing that makes morals complex is the board member is exactly right, for all intents and purposes the next Rebecca model will be exactly the same. and he may soon forget it was actually the second.

As a very late comment that may never be reviewed, I'd like to say that this IS by FAR the best Dust film I have watched (and I have seen many) Kudos on a great production, the filmography, the script, the acting everything was exceptionally well done. THANK YOU!

I loved everything about this film, especially the nods to Bladerunner. Now, where can I order my Rebecca in that particular model Because the actress was also pretty incredible. Nicely done! Bravo to the people who made this short. Two thumbs up, here!

Romeo and Juliet from an AI perspective. All that's needed would be the scene where he kills himself, and the scene where she is re-gened. Don't get me wrong; this story was done fabulously! I've never seen a Juliet more perfect. Or a Romeo so hooked.
reply

was this suppoesd to be romantic They literally programmed her to act perfect for him. Is not like she does something because she likes him, she does because she was programmed too. Also, he can buy a new one and she will treat him the same

Hollywood is determined to throw billions of dollars at movies to try and make even more but this is what I love. And I really hope that small passion projects like this will someday soon cause a renaissance of good filmmaking.

This one really shows how the little things can give away an actor, like moving your hands in circular motions to often. Or acne on a robot. These little things made this feel more then less genuine but less than a lie
reply

Interesting short, but I’m so confused by the Jenga bit. I thought you couldn’t actually win in Jenga; I thought the goal was to not lose and the loser is the one who causes the all of the block/tower to fall

Hello Everybody, thank you watching the movie. And thanks very much to everyone at Watch Dust for showing my film! Please let me know if anyone has any questions about the film or the making of it. Thanks!
reply

Can we please, please get A week with Rebecca sequel, where she returns, or anorher version with a happier ending made It just cant end like this, i was totally hooked on the premise and the characters!

Can't watch a film, even a short one, written by someone who doesn't know how to use the word 'magnitude' correctly. It would seem also that the actors and director are just as ignorant. 0: 55

The problem with it is that I couldnt fall for that could you Know its not reala nd that its programmed to imprint to you What kind of monster do you have to be to love something like that
reply

What's the difference between a human feeling love or pain, and a robot programmed to feel love or pain Where exactly do you draw the line between living and a simulation of living
reply

Ah yes. As if people aren't already obsessed with having all the bells & whistles even to the point of merging with machines to their own eventual demise. But it LOOKS pretty!
reply

I think we are giant idiots because we think this is acceptable for animal research and entertainment. No rewards justify this level of risk to life.
reply

sounds realistic. greedy corp develops a product they only see as profit, provides proof of concept, then squeezes out more; damn the consequences.
reply

Fascinating. We have a real life clone of Ben Affleck, playing the part of the owner of a human biobot, in a modern day version of The Stepford Wives.
reply

Great short film! but that guy has zero muscles in his arms and a flat chest! so glad I go to the gym every other day and look muscular lol
reply

Cute story, but of course a man is rather together with an AI than with a real woman that have own feelings, issues and needs other than his.
reply

Surprisingly well acted and directed, but personaly I found the story somewhat stale. For a short it's also unnecessarily long.
reply

I love this film! The story reminds me that Good Sci-Fi is only a mask for revealing the most deepest issues about human nature.
reply

in case she goes rogue there's a timer. man they ripped off Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep every chance they can.
reply

By the end I was expecting a twist and started thinking the guy was the robot about to drop dead. dust will be dust.
reply

I want to see these two together again. Such a sweet story and her personality was amazing and honest. Great film.
reply

It's not your programming, it's how you carry it out.
Oh yeah, and Feminists are gonna hate Rebecca.

reply

I was wondering where all the Hollywood's soul in their movies has gone. Now I know, to DUST! Thank you!
reply

I love how the last scene color grading makes scene soooo much homey and just warm. Good job guys
reply

Just remember humans have an eternal soul that will either spend eternity in Heaven or Hell.
