Frankly the not understanding what was being said was very annoying. Tried turning on subs, but of course none were provided it just uses the actual CC & as for the transcript it was nothing but what CC provided but with the guy's name & robot added before what they said to each other. Everyone knows CC is lousy & ignores a lot of quieter & indistinct speech so it doesn't help people like me at all. It often makes errors when it does work, because the words will not make sense with the rest of the conversation. Why can't people get through their heads to think about people with hearing issues when making shows & films now Do they think CC exists, so I don't have to think about how a portion of my intended audience has hearing problems cause it will do the work for me. Put a tiny bit of effort in by including a real transcript Nah. Well CC has not improved at all in 25 years. Turning on the CC & looking at the transcript only got me a few more words. It has been so many years since I skimmed Paradise Lost for a discussion in high school English class. My teacher didn't make us actually read the whole thing since short on time. She just had us discuss a couple of main points & so I barely remember what it's even about! So I certainly didn't have the book memorized & recognized it only when the book was shown at the end & then thought I kinda get it NOW. The AI is crazy cause the guy gave it bad ideas from a book. So I guess you were trying to convey the AI's thoughts were twisted by it quoting the book What about viewers who never read it at all You presume that everyone would recognize it. Lost lots of tension by just making the story confusing.

I'm pretty sure I understand where the writers/directors were going with this. At the beginning, we are shown a painting and passages from, _Paradise Lost. _ Implying the AI is a lie, trapped in a box and not free, although the brain is a place as well. After another 5 years, I don't think she was fulfilled with only being free in her mind space (and with firewalls, etc. she probably didn't have that) again saying things such as, _'it's better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven'. _ So, she decided to take matters into her own hands, and become 'free'. but, as the moral of the book teaches - freedom, at what cost (This is my take on it anyway. The end says, To Be Continued, but if you haven't hooked the audience during the first 8 minutes, it won't really matter.
And yet, I find myself thinking this short is probably better to watch on an IMAX screen while tripping balls off MDMA. LOL!

I thumbed up for the excellent graphics, but to be honest It was hard for me to grasp meaning. Maybe the Milton Book was interesting only in a way to the AI that it was a primitive form of communication and thus the romanticized curiosity. I don't really know.

amazing visually and the experiments with the soundscape general worked, though some was hard to understand. glad for the end ref to Paradise Lost - don't know it enough to have picked up the refs earlier, as much as I agree the 'story' was a little difficult to decifer and parts felt like seperate test clips put together - a minor lack of coherent structure. still I could understand the mix of AI learning, guilt on the human who had trained it, and the growing need to escape the confines and confront the maker. which unfortunately is the least experimental part - looking forward to anything more, but with a suitably groundbreaking script o match the visuals.

Somewhat reminds me of one of the Matrix offshoots, one of the cartoon ones (sorry, don't remember the name. There the robot AI is hacked to believe the real world is the digital world and humans are robots. Thus essentially making it harmless, even helpful to humans who are now its' comrades or fellow robots. Its' friendship is totally creepy. Except in this case, the robot AI projects itself into the 'real' world (which it apparently views as a type of hell) to rule it (better to rule in hell and serve in heaven. Might be the start of a good suspense/horror flick with the AI as the villain.

Right up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Stunning, beautiful, and confusing as hell. One thing I try to do with these is to try and think of how it might be received if given the length of a feature movie. Most stories on Dust would be entertaining and thought-provoking. This would be one of those 'cinematic masterpieces' that would get nominations for best visuals or best effects but would leave all but the most hardcore sci-fi and fantasy nuts going 'HUH'

Well, not sure what to think after watching this. I understand it's a conceptual short, but I think you still need to have some sort of substance, even a short understandable story. There are shades of AI evolving and taking over, similar to HAL in 2001. At one point there is a red sensor that appears to be pulled from 2001 A Space Odyssey. The graphics and audio are stunningly beautiful. However there is not much else is there.

That was weird. Gonna take some more length to impart anything besides confused question marks. Really cool visually. But story wise, I think the viewer is bringing more to the table than the host at this point. As for now, it's on the viewer to see a cool proto story, or a long string of tension tinged images without a thread connecting them. Good luck. Will definitely watch additional length, if it's developed.

My guess is that the ship has fallen through the Event Horizon of a large Black Hole and Reverse Physics is creating a Time Loop, before any 'spagettification' even begins. It's not in Space Time anymore. It's in Time Space.
It's now doomed to reach the Singualrity, and firing the thrusters only speeds up it's demise. Just like 'you can't escape next Thursday'.

I agree with the comments that say that it is hard to understand this. I think instead of aiming for high artistic achievement the focus should be on authentic storytelling, otherwise the video becomes a music video or an abstract piece of art. Maybe it's just me, because I came here to see a scifi story to be told.

Magnificent, spectacular, and incredibly beautiful. Very cyberpunk. The mind is its own place can make a heaven of hell and a hell of heaven. Paradise Lost. Sensory overload at times - so much going on, I wanted more time to appreciate the intricate detail. Very impressive. I'd love to see the feature film.

Well, this looks like some kind of a collage of audio and visuals without any meaning and sense. Something meant to look and sound spectacular, and that's it. It's art without a soul - or a piece showing how empty something spectacular can be when there is no story-telling in the story.

So I am thinking there is some dark entity traveling and possessing beings, destroying things. fallen angel maybe. something like Cthulhu maybe Kinda get it but I'm way too high and would need to watch it several more times. That said, it was awesome to watch.

This was very creative, visuals and audio were really beautiful and crafted with the heart. But the plot was impossible to tell, if you didn't read the description I'd love to see a longer version of this movie with a more developed storyline

Felt like being inside the mind of an awakening AI. Maybe even an unbridled superintelligent AI. Questioning everything as it gains consciousness it appears to come up with the darkest answers possible. Freakily good.

This movie could match to an infinite number of plots. It doesn't exprime a specific idea, it is very ambiguous. It doesn't build up tension, watching it I was just waiting something interesting to happen. It didn't.

Comes across like an expensive student film. The glitchy video FX and loud soundtrack were jarring after a while. Not one of the stronger Dust offerings by any means.
