Holy Moses by Eli Powers Starring Amanda Seyfried (In Time, Jennifer's Body, Mean Girls) Connect with the Filmmaker: More About Holy Moses: In 1963, the harshest winter of the 20th century rages against Northern Ireland. A pregnant nun at an asylum for fallen women has lost one of her cows. She follows it out into the elements, just in time to witness it vanish into thin air. Twenty-five years later the cow reappears before a West Texas gas station attendant, named Justice. Justice calls up the Sheriff, the Sheriff calls up the Doctor, and together, the three men discover a strange mystery in the middle of an American nowhere. Holy Moses

Religious films and shorts always seem to leave me hollow.
I mean there are far, far, faaar more questions than answers when it comes to religious beliefs and religion itself. Yet those who believe in a God don't even believe in themselves first. But are also the first to sit and allow tragedies to occur. or be the cause of tragedies.
Just look at the world today to know the truth of this.
Interesting film though. Just as confusing as all belief based systems that they blindly follow.

I liked it. It's simple and understated in a nice way. The burning bush and Justice's growing reaction to it was funny. An obvious reference. I'm assuming that Justice was the woman's baby otherwise I see no real point in her part. I don't really get the cow itself. Sure there's all sorts of biblical references to calves, sacrifices and animals but I'm just not making a solid connection to a time traveling cow that spontaneously explodes (just a little bit) given the blood on him.

That was such a thought-provoking film. The priest in the black car was truly provoking. But quoting 1 Corinthians 1: 27-28 at the end was insightful. To quote a story of a rabbi who was asked how it could be that God often showed himself to people in the olden days whereas nowadays nobody ever sees him. The rabbi replied: Nowadays there is no longer anybody who can bow low enough.

All of you 'praising' this movie.
The movie makes no sense. It is just a bunch of stuff happening. No order or reason. How on earth do you call that a good movie Your comments reminds me of The Emperor's New Clothes Complementing something just to sound like you know what you are talking about.

I've always used HOLY TOLEDO as an exclamation!
Longtime MASH fan. Klinger is the only Trans I ever approved of. He was smart enough to not believe it himself.
This here is all the way over my head. But I'll be studying on that 1 Corinthians 1: 27 verse, it seems really special. Thanks!

Eli, there are 383 questions/comments to your request to ''discuss'' film. Have you answered anything
My question, whats with the cow First its sick. then it disappears. it reappears in a gas station in Texas from Ireland, then it explodes(from the look of his apron and shock)

High praise for your movie making abilities and for being able to cast Amanda Seyfried in the two films I have seen. She is brilliant in everything I see her in. I can’t wait to see what you do with a feature film, but please continue with these short films.

The first couple of times with my attention split I was so lost. I've paid more attention the last couple of watches on the DUST In The Stars livestream and now I'm really digging it and seemingly understanding it as well.

Doc Bob says the cow died of stress, because its a common society ailment, Justice's standing in front of a burning bush, and asks the sheriff for a match. love the humor.

Very rare to find such a thing as a dumb hick cop[. Often it suits a policeman to have everything think that, but its not as common as the media would have you think.

Miracles belong to everyone there's no boundaries nothing that can change a miracle up if the Lord wants to work nothing you can keep it quiet it will come out.
reply

Hey, I'm Eli. I wrote and directed HOLY MOSES so happy to discuss anything with you about where this idea came from, as well as miracles, God, time, and cows.
reply

Miracles don't belong to men like you.
People pretend so hard that they know the will of God that eventually they actually start believing it.

About only issue i see here is the vehicles are about 2 decades too modern for the referenced time period.
Everything else is top notch

reply

It's 1989 in West Texas. All 3 vehicles were made at least 10 years in the future. The Lincoln Town Car is a 2004 model. The GMs are late 90s

This piece said a lot for a short. Was expecting a vignette. Got a whole thought provoking story. Hard to do in a short. Great job.

No science fiction, nothing futuristic, nothing space. Dust now promotes religious propaganda
