A grumpy old man’s quiet life is disrupted when a bright light crashes in his yard, revealing an alien babyforcing him to confront his loneliness and decide whether to care for it or turn away. Falling Lights by Nicolas Habermann Connect with the Filmmaker: More About Falling Lights: An elderly man, known for his grumpy and reclusive nature, lives a quiet, isolated life in a small, rural town. His days are routine, marked by solitude and a deep-seated loneliness that he stubbornly refuses to acknowledge. One evening, his monotonous existence is abruptly interrupted when a mysterious bright light streaks across the sky and crashes into his backyard. Investigating the source of the disturbance, he discovers an alien baby nestled within the wreckage. The sight of the helpless, otherworldly infant initially terrifies him, shaking the very foundation of his orderly world. Despite his initial inclination to ignore the strange being, the man's sense of responsibility and curiosity begin to take hold. As he struggles with his decision, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the alien child, who needs care and protection. This unexpected encounter forces the old man to confront the deep loneliness that has defined his life for so long. In the end, the old man realizes that this alien baby, so different yet so vulnerable, has given him a second chance at life. He decides to care for the child, opening his heart to the possibility of love and companionship once more. Through this extraordinary encounter, the man finds the courage to break free from his past and step into a future filled with hope and newfound connection. Hello, my name is Nicolas, and I’m the director and writer of Falling Lights. I’m thrilled to have my film featured on Dust. I’m incredibly proud of my 92-year-old grandfather, who stars in the film, and I’m so grateful that he has recovered from his accident. I look forward to your questions and challenge you to find the one shot where a stunt double is used instead of the lead actor! Can you spot it

It would take you longer to explain the movie to someone else, than it would take if just watch it. But when you watch it, it is hard to believe it is only seven minutes long. I know, a lot can happen in seven minutes. Anyways, excellent job, I want to see more of your work. Remember the last time you stood in line for more than seven minutes. Seven minutes could change your life,

Awesome! You're grandfather did a great job. The ending left me wondering if the aliens brought their infants to earth because their world was dying or was it preliminary to an invasion, or were the infants from another source. Whatever the case the man did the humane thing. Again, awesome!

Interesting use of light. Babykins could be good (Superman, Cocoon) or not (Species, Village of the Damned. Hope the old man has younger folks to help find out. Would the police and helicopters stop because he picked up the baby Did they lose track or get distracted somehow Nice short!

Stunt double on the stairs My dad is 90 and with Parkinson’s shakes like this man. I worried about him holding a baby going up the steps! :)

He saved the little alien, right, but he's too old to raise it, this story will end badly, joke, but it's a nice sci-fi short anyway.
