A tense spaceship captain and co-pilot set out to investigate a comet, when a technical fault cuts to the core of their relationship problem White Lily by Tristan Oeld More About White Lily: Leon and Isobel are nearing the critical point of a long space journey. Leon relaxes, watching a hologram of blue skies and recalling a holiday he and Isobel had but doesn’t remember one of the features she draws attention to, a vase with a white lily. The purpose of their expedition is to investigate a comet. Perhaps because of his fractiousness, Leon sets a ight path that Isobel considers dangerous, and the ship is damaged in the process of its exploration. Buoyed by the success of their trip, Leon and Isobel discuss what they’ll do when they return to Earth. Isobel gets a word wrong, and it becomes apparent there’s something is amiss she is a holographic companion for Leon, based on the persona of a former lover, and is suffering from the same fault as the ship’s other systems. Isobel insists that Leon reboot her, but he is reluctant to do so since it will wipe her out. Their relationship is what’s keeping him together, and for Isobel it’s one that’s based on someone else’s memories. Isobel insists on the reboot, and Leon reminisces about the real’ Isobel, for once addressing the hologram as if it’s her. These are their last moments together. Then the reboot is completed and the holographic companion that was Isobel asks Leon in a blank computerized voice what he wants to call her. Leon prepares for a very long and very lonely trip back to Earth

DUST Rocks!
Reading through the comments, am I the only one who thought, OK Mission Planners; You want me to fly out into space alone, and then do a barn-storming, head-crashing run through a comet. What happened to matching orbit and sending a probe, please!

You'd think that by this time they'd have known to create BACKUP DRIVES! I mean, something so important, and there was no backup Yeah, yeah, it's needed to make the story. A good one too. Great acting and directing! Where have I seen her before
reply

This is brilliant. The hologram had developed her own personality over the years they had been together. Learned about him and how to be with him. Then all of a sudden his journey back of 3 years will be with a stranger.

This is like those times at work when you finally get someone trained on the fryer, they quit and you have to start all over again with some noob that can't even put their name tag on correctly. 9: 13

Why did he do the close flyby so recklessly, rather than at a creeping relative speed And why are on-screen AIs always in volatile memory, such that power-cycling them resets them to factory default
reply

Soo, why did they have to pass through the asteroid I recon the ship should have guiding systems in place to avoid such things
All in all, I loved it thou. Good acting, visual and overall feeling.

Out of all of the stuff to have on a starship packed for a long journey there really should have been a flash card somewhere. After all, they are collecting data.
reply

Wow, when you watch 7 minutes into the film and then it's suddenly revealed she's a hologram! That was very good! Now the title White Lily makes sense.
reply

Feel you missed a solid closer right at the end there.
What would you like to call me
Pause Pain evident on face.
Lily
Ooooooft.

Ty Dust. I have seen some of your vids. The ones I have seen are awesome. My favorite is FTL. I love the way you make us think. Keep it up.

I wonder if they will ever have 'sequels' to some of these short stories I think some of them deserve more elucidation and story telling.

How can be noise in vacuum What conveys the waves How can that ship withstand a hit of even a small particle at those kind of speeds!
reply

Well at least he can reboot and rebuild memories starting afresh like it was the beginning of a whole new relationship.
reply

Isabelle voice sounds like a 6 year old. Doesn't match her face at all lol. Great film tho. Dust for the win
reply

The fiction part of this was that a hologram makes pillow indentations. Also, that a hologram needs to lay down.
reply

Alice. Yeah that should be her new name. I like this movie. She was a companion and a squezzy play thing.

3: 20 if they are in space. Why isn't that man floating. How come gravity is there inside that ship.

Diese Filme sind richtig gut es ist nur schade dass sie alle auf Englisch sind und nicht jeder kann Englisch.

I didn't know that you can touch a hologram. He was holding her had on her reboot bed
reply

Liked very much the spaceship, how it conveys this general impression of sturdiness.

Bodies are formed one molecule at a time. Minds are formed one word at a time.
