super super late comment, but at least on Days Gone there is a lore reason for the size of the hordes. First they move from big city trow the cave systems, and most of the big ones where carry there by the trains,

What about tanks in zombie games, its not like you can sink your teeth through steal. Not to mention some modern tanks and IFV's are purpose built for nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.

I loved the very last one. I live in a small town in texas yet for some reason I know people who are afraid of zombie outbreak I'm like dude we don't even have enough people to make it a threat.

Project Zomboid takes most of these into consideration. If you have blood on your clothes and get cut, you'll start turning. You can also set the population of zombies and turn respawn off.

For me it was the concept of State of Decay 2 how everyone around you is a zombie but for some reason our characters are immune? They get bit and shrug it off

In Days Gone it's explained that zombies are traveling in hordes via highways so Sawmill horde is totally possible you are just nitpicking at this point.
