IDK about any other games, but Fallout games really like using left handed guns in their games. If you look at a real firearm, 99.999% of them will have the ejection port and firing controls on the right side of the gun. Because Bethesda wants to have the interesting bits on the screen, everything is mirrored onto the left side. In reality, if you have a gun designed to be left handed and you fire right handed (or vice versa) it will result in what guntubers refer to as -brass bukkake.- (problem is especially amplified with bullpups aside from the FN P90 that's designed to have the ejection out the bottom of the gun)

Conclusion: Most games have very unrealistic characteristics and that's not necessarily a bad thing, unless you make it one. Plus, we don't play videogames for their realistic features, if we wanted a perfect war simulator, we could jut go to war. (Not implying it's easy in any way, but you get my point) The unrealism of a game is normally what makes it the more fun, but taking it too far is also sometimes a problem.

The thing in CoD that makes the least sense to me is the LMGs.
Most LMGs are mounted for a reason: their weight and firepower are too much for any normal human soldier to wield, but in-game, you can hoist an LMG onto your shoulder and sprint at 24 mi/ph for over 20 yards!
Plus they do the damage of a pea shooter despite most LMGs firing 30. 06. or 50. cal

About point 2, the gun levelling up itself is dumb, but possible. You can get a better gun/upgrade your gun with tighter lockup(higher damage), more fine-tuned gas pressure(rpm), lighter materials(faster ads), exotic materials such as ceramic and carbon fibre(different ballistic characteristic after multiple rounds), new rifling(accuracy), and likely more

another part about the mounted guns that makes no sense is in apex legends the legend rampart has a minigun and it can be both held and mounted, when held it has a ammo capacity of about 300-500 I forget, but then when mounted even if you have expended all that ammo it still has unlimited ammo.

so many games like you maybe you reload with 15 more bullets in the mag and you put a new one in and you see the bullets that you just chucked away with that old mag go to your current ammo count like you get those bullets back it makes no sense and it triggers me

One day I will learn how to build a game and create a game that is realistic enough yet low-end pc friendly and make everything make sense than most game don't. even if I need to learn Physics I'll do just for the sake of the game that is physics approved

My favorite goofy gun thing is how, in Half Life and Half Life 2, you can fire both barrels of the shotgun. I mean yeah, you can do that with some shotguns... but the shotgun in Half Life is pretty clearly a SPAS-12, which only has one barrel.

It's difficult to make something realistic while keeping it balanced for both sides. Also games aren't meant to be takes seriously or realistically, they were made to have fun. It's the impossible things that give most joy
