Some video game consoles and concepts didn't quite survive throughout the years. Here are some unfortunate examples Tommaso: Well...the Wii U was an okay-Console. Nice to have in a big Console-Collection. But in the End doomed to drown because of Lack of interest. For example, i only bought mine because of Xenoblade Chronicles X which in the End disappointed me. In the End i sold it and never went back to it. Although i still accept Wii U-Ports for the Switch. And, if Time allows it, i would love to give Xenoblade Chronicles X another Chance on my Switch. So, please, give me more Wii U Ports!
PS: I know that Nintendo's Remaster/Ports-at-full-Price Tactics are shamefull, but i'm partly okay with that. Seeing that some of those Games i never played -cough- Twilight Princess..

Regarding the question does PS1 games always play like crap in Europe, they are designed to play at 50 hertz. TV's ran at 50 hertz there so that's what you want your games too run at too. The reason why it ran like crap here is we were running 50 hertz games at 60 hertz, effecting making the frames out of sync.
Basically, the US power grid runs at 60 hertz. Europe runs at 50. I believe they went to 50 because 60 hertz is close to the impulses your heart needs to see and if you get shocked with 60 hertz it's more likely to disrupt your heartbeat. Although I'm not sure how much that would really help you if you got really electrocuted.

PS1 in Europe was a PAL system 50hz, US has NTSC 60hz I dont know how CRT TV handle variable refresh rates but modern TV has built in support for 50/60hz or even 100/120hz to support both pal and NTSC standard. Why Sony chose to use Pal games instead of NTSC version? I guess they just threw something together to compete with nes/snes mini and it would be more reliable to only run games at 50fps instead of 60fps.

The Playstation Classic ran at 50hz because the PAL versions of the games (that featured more language support) ran at 50hz, due to the televisions available at the time.
It could have been better but if you have any playstation games, you can rip them to your computer and put them on the Playstation Classic... you just have to turn it into a single player console.

i wouldn't say the Wii U was overhyped. in fact, as you said, part of the reason it failed was because people didn't realize it was a new console, that's how bad the marketing and branding was, and if that isn't the opposite of overhyped, i dunno what is.

The most ridiculous thing about the N-Gage was the way how it worked as a phone.
Guess where the speaker and mic were located?
In the spine.
So the way you held the phone to speak with someone was really awkward.

Tbf I don-t think the Wii U was overhyped for the sole fact very few people knew what it was. It wasn-t marketed right at all, Nintendo kept referring to the -new controller- and didn-t even mention the console.

I hate I bought a Wii u back in 2014. After that, I stopped buying Nintendo products. After the Wii gimmick, then the Wii u, I couldn't do Nintendo no more. IDC if the switch is a hit right now. Too late for me

When I got my SNES at like age six, it was package with a pamphlet about virtual boy... All I could think when I looked at the insert of the kid playing it was - wow, that looks really uncomfortable-
