10 rpgs with the most realistic loot mechanics

Some games handle loot in impressive and realistic ways...well, sort of. Here are our favorite examples Sam: When we get a full on VR RPG then you'll have the most realistic looting. Actually picking up the item, opening backpack, and fitting it inside.
Right now, every single PC RPG is a case of spam click, or press E to loot all, then carry 990lbs worth of tusks, horns, sandwiches and gear the 2 miles back to town on foot.
And right now, every VR title is a case of pick weapon off floor using the force / not the force, drop weapon into the black hole on your back / in a bag.
The anomalies right now are the games that have lengthy looting animations, such as RDR, but I don't really like calling skinning, gutting etc as 'looting'. Picking up gold relieves my anxiety, ripping a larynx out while the eyes are still trying to comprehend what I am, tends to give me more of it.
An idea I had a while back would revolutionise looting in a lot of RPGs. So you could go to a dungeon solo, or with companions and you'd have a small amount of room to carry SOME items. Maybe a single valuable armour piece - a silver decorative cuirass found on a family tomb, or a bunch of gems / coins. But if you wanted to like, scour a mine of resources, or raid a whole crypt or bandit camp and take everything? You'd have to buy / hire a wagon. This couldj ust be a single wagon when you start, all the way up to a whole ass caravan complete with hired guards and armoured horses later on. But the thing this changes is it lets you and some hired NPCs enter the dungeon after you've cleared it and make runs to the wagon to fill it with loot.
The more loot you have, the larger the caravans you run, the more you get taxed, and the more nefarious people are lured to you, such as bandits on the road. You could, if your caravan is well armed and defended, just tell the driver at the front to go back to town and sell up without you, while you explore more, then send a letter or messenger bird to get them to meet you somewhere else, but if you have a low grade caravan, a single wagon, no guards, then you should defend it yourself as it will likely be attacked on the road. could even have a bank / storage system that requires you to do stuff to be able to store all your loot. Like opening a museum should your treasure hunting prove more profitable than you need.
If you leave your stuff unattended, even the guards and people you hire to man the caravan might become corrupt, steal from you etc. I know games have tried having a pack horse npc that you can control and order around but the execution of that in terms of how it meshes well gameplay wise has always been poorly done. I have no standout memories of these games. Plus with my idea you could have a whole minigame management system built around the hirelings, giving NPC followers even more substance and important meaning within the game as you could place one of your trusted followers in defense of your caravan, keeping thefts from happening while you're away and boosting the defenses.
IDK, the whole idea was given to me by a feeling I had playing Dragon Age inquisition. It felt to me like the idea they were hinting at is you are not physically mining all these rocks yourself - you're just writing their location down so your inquisition can collect the resources later. I felt this very strongly from the overall layout of the game but it was obviously not completely realised and you still just had press E to fondle rock and make it disappear in 1.5 seconds animation like most other shitty games.

TES serie might not be statistically the best games ever regarding sales but they are, espacially Skyrim, the most well made and the last one was made 11 years ago.
It has one of the biggest community surrounding it and should be consider as equal, in what it brought to the gaming community, as the Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, WoW, Trackmania, Minecraft and Pokemon of this world. Those game (and I know I probably missed some, respond if you have any -) are masterpieces in their own field cause they either started a genre or propulsed it to where it is now.

Since you put Rust on here you could of put 7 days days to die on here as well. Morrowind is way better then Skyrim. Morrowind also has a bigger map then Skyrim, with more consequences for actions then Skyrim. Morrowind also has a more customizable armor system, along with class and magic system is more customizable as well. Enchanting is also better in Morrowind.

-normal- non remake neverwinter nights - chests do have random loot that depends on player level,
only special chests that MUST contain a quest item and chests/rubbles in Shadows of undrentide are somewhat set for the stuff they give
yea, great game...
playing it now as bard/paladin named Hombre Religioso :D

I hated getting a broken rake from The Witcher 3; even in the nice looking treasure chests had broken rakes in them. Skillege had good treaures in the ocean, and Blood & Wine also had good treasure. And when you found gold in The Witcher 3 it'd be worthless but silver was worth something.

Skyrim gets to much praise. It's a pretty dull game. Felt like 85% of the dungeons you'd come across were just copy pasted assets, not many felt very unique. Some to note, but not enough. Bland visuals over all, being in a snowy, mountainous areas mostly, atmosphere was just meh.

I think first Mafia should be also on the list. You can pick up every single weapon of defeated enemy and also have super limited inventory. On top of that if you reload before you'll empty magazine, you will lost all remaining ammo from that magazine.

titan quest probably has the best ARPG loot system, while bosses and such have loot 'chests' that drop, if the regular grunts are going to drop that uber weapon...guess what they are carrying it, and you can see it on them before they die.

Ark have a better loot mechanics as you slow down as everything have a different weight and if you are loaded with loot running from predators is not going to happen and end up being invited for lunch and you being the lunch.
