10 WEIRD Gaming Stories of January 2023 Astalth on: Number 1, assuming that's what she did and it's not fake (which it very VERY easily could be, is impressive but it's also not her idea in the slightest. A paper was published in the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation back in 2012 describing exactly this type of thing in great detail. But more than that, even if it's a workable thing now it's still wildly cost-prohibitive. A dirt-cheap EEG is several thousand dollars. meanwhile most of us think 100 for a PS4 or Xbox controller is already getting too expensive.

Assuming the top pick is true, it is reasonably easy to do and has been done before.
Your brain reacts in differently when you think of different things. Think of a Tiger, say, and your brain activity goes a certain way. Thinking of a Tiger will be completely different to thinking of a Cat, or a Elephant, or whatever.
So you use a PC to act as a medium between your brain and the game. Thinking of Flying allows you to jump, thinking of Kicking will hit the fire button, and so forth.
Again this was done some years ago in a very, very simple way. If I recall correctly it was moving a cursor through a maze. I am not surprised by nowadays if a 20 year old student of Psychology can do this at home while streaming.

I couldn't imagine playing a game then going inactive only to down the road try to comeback and play again only to find out I was permanently banned. I have several games I do this with like SWTOR. I will rejoin SWTOR when a new expansion comes out and play for a while then take a break so I don't burnout and never play again. I have in the past taken a couple years away only to decide to one day reinstall and play for several months. I would be mad as hell to find out they banned me along with all the progress, especially since my account is a founder account.

The helicopter one probably has something to do with the hit box acting like a wacky arm inflatable tube man if certain actions are taken and you get too low to the ground.
However as for brain one. It is just one step closer to some of games featured in Anime like Bofuri possible SAO. Which is both fascinating yet scary.
Mass banning innocent people seems like they just being lazy or they didn't understand nor have a solid grasp on banning system works on steam in the first place or both.

EA's move makes perfect sense, they made 1. 6 billion (yes with a B) from loot boxes in FIFA alone last year, even though they are losing the ability to market this despicable practice to kids directly, developing unhealthy habits in them with the free loots boxes will make adults that are susceptible to gambling addiction. Making people aware of this and protecting the next generation of gamers from these abusive practices is something I wish we all could just get on board with.

Number 1 is incredibly unlikely.
1 you can see her hands.
2 Major companies have been working on stuff like his for Decades. Technically the technology works, but fine control is problematic.
3 If this is true, she Needs to publish How she did got it working so that she can get hired to make it avaliable for more people.
Personally I'd guess that someone else is controlling the game and they are coordinating so it looks cool.

The EGG use in games for how unbelievable it would look is pretty much a possible thing, because if you think about it, we have sensors for movements in controls and in todays technology we can even use the brain to attach a sensor to any electric movement inside, so I would say why we haven't seen something like this before, that girl needs to make a company or something like that it would benefit a bunch of people.

Loot boxes should definitely not be allowed. If they want to do some Micro transactions then fine as long as it is only cosmetic I don t see a problem with it. It s annoying but if they make a fire game I can see myself MAYBE paying for some of that. Only game I ve don t that with so far is the first warzone and I only bought one bundle. Never paid for anything other than just games besides that.

It's easy to explain why companies put lootboxes in, payed for or not; it's the laziest and easiest way to implement that type of loot. No need to come up with an elaborate in-game way of explaining, and as a bonus, if it wasn't monetized lootboxes, they can always add monetization down the line in case verdicts fall to their favor in terms of government intervention. They lose nothing by it.

The BCI or Brain-Computer Interface has been under research for a good long time now. A quick YT search of TED talks will give a good background of the devolopments over the last 10 years and obviously they're now potentially within our reach as a viable commercial product.
Can you imagine the game that combines BCI with VR? It'll change the world.

The EEG thing is fake. Off-screen player. EEG's are only capable of very basic commands mentally. That's why almost all of the EEG games and previous tests have been of people essentially lifting an object or a basic binary command. It's not good enough for full gameplay. It's also very easy to have a phantom player on a stream.

Sorry but with Undisputed yet another game early access on steam meaning console owners are ignored. Having PC WWE fans shafted by inferior game. Welcome to our console world. Try getting a get PC port on the console and then see the devs neglect it after release. Meaning we buy an unfinished game.

Honestly I'm ok with lootboxes in the context of them not being paid, and also something more akin to what overwatch did before the 2. 0 patch. Like little collectables that don't affect gameplay, that you only earn through gameplay, just given in a random order

With accounts getting hacked left and right, and now corrupted data becoming an issue, I don't understand why people find it weird to crate local backups instead. All Steam games should be allowed to play offline and have a local backup that can be transferred
