The Last of Us Part 1 (PC) - Before You Buy PandaOfTea: I have never been so disappointed and let down as a gamer from a pc game, and I'm a gamer since 1993, and honestly I am just so mad with this sh t, I even got the deluxe edition. I know what everyone is going to say, but no, this is becoming ridiculous, lately it has been always like this, developers rush release and the game is not yet even finished or is not optimized at all, AT ALL. Don't even try to defend anybody, you can't tell me they have even tested this, because I can't believe that on almost 90% of the hardware this games stutters, personally I got an rx 6700 tx which has 12 gb of vram, 32 ram (and the game takes a staggering 23 gb on the main menu, where you see the window, and after 3 hours, literally 3 hours my game froze on loading shaders. Seriously getting so sick of every goddamn games running like crap on pc because developers just greed for money releasing it.

this sh t was the worst port honestly I have ever seen, listen, I have had my problems with other ps ports, nothing like this one, here are just a few of the issues: they managed to make even some of the most emotional of scenes hillarious due to the rigs T-posing every 10 seconds, as well as often the voices being totally out of sync, when I say out of sync, I mean in the car scene, uncle tommy said Route whatever the number was, when we were passing those people asking to get into the car. I also found myself with 'please wait' every 20 seconds or so, I believe its due to lighting changes, but thats still dumb, another thing is the MOUSE TO GAME cOORDINATION, that was amazingly bad, it was like they were trying for it to be bad. I punched someone, and then I got shot, and then, when I was practically dead, THEN THE PUNCH CAME THROUGH, not only this but the rigs sucked everywhere as ive said, but like even when you are just playing. Not only this, but the shaders, the god-forsaken shaders, a single percent on it, takes about 15 minutes, 100 more of those
1500 minutes, for the shaders to fully load so theres less glitches, that is a day, and an hour. for shaders. smh worst pc port to ever come to this planet, such hype around it as well.

Great game!
Loots of problems.
I Myself are suprised i could run it with my pc:
GTX 1650+I5 9400f+16gb ram
Low settings =looks terrible But when i use dlss quality the picture is alot better(but far from ok)
Crashed 1 time when tried at higher settings, after lowered to low+some of the settings up to high that dont drain my vram it is working to play atleast.
Definatly a buy that wasnt worth the money(if it gets fixxed so i can atleast play at 60fps at low without drops below 20fps and the Loading in the middle of places that made me die=just not a great pc port by far.
But works for me on my low pc gtx 1650 is a surprise to say the least.
Thanx for all your Before u buy videos(only place i need to look before i buy a game)

It's weird, I get better longterm stability on my steam deck than my 3070 desktop PC. There's clearly a memory leak that makes it inevitably crash on desktop.
On the deck, this is the first game I've ever seen where it has a Deck aware graphics configuration menu. It has an unspecified locked set of texture options. Shifting through all the presets you can go from a locked 30 fps at low up to Ultra which gives you 15 to 20 fps using fsr2.
But it has yet to crash on deck for me. Frametime is pretty smooth on deck as well, even though it's very low fps. Very odd.
Side note: my deck is set up to use the 4gb dedicated vram. I wonder if using the default 1 gb dedicated framebuffer is what's crashing people's decks.

It's typical Developer/Publisher rushing out a game, be it this one has been in the works for PC for a LONG time, and doing absolutely minimal QA testing to make sure it's ready day-one release to PC. They know people will pay the 60+ dollars and be happy with a beta version of the game, making the buyers the beta testers paying for the privilege. I never buy a game day-one any more. Been burned too many times in the past (you know who you are EA) by others over the years, and learned my lesson. Wait for others to beta test the hell out of it until it's really ready to buy and by that time you can usually pick it up for 1/2 price.

Shader compilation took around an hour with my 3070 and 12700k. I had a hair glitch when i first booted it up on high settings. Restarted it on medium and it works great. locked my fps to 70 and im getting 70-60 fps consistently. some dips to 50 and micro stutters tho. Playing on 2k ultrawide monitor. I tried enabling most of the other settings to high and ultra like screenspace reflections and other settings that doesnt affect the VRAM usage that much. So far it's working alright for me. Not great or good. Just passable decent framerate with a few hiccups. Still gonna wait for a patch before continuing the story further.

It's the same fix for every game limit your frame rate, and/or turn v-sync off
The problem isn't the game at the problem is the many different types of hardware out there on a PC
Starcraft had the problem Diablo have the problem fallout had the problem Skyrim have the problem they all have this f problem
Diablo 4 beta was frying cards, just like starcraft 2. The fix was the same as well, for that one it was turn off your vsync
That is not a brick, a brick doesn't come back to life. It's a brick because it literally is a brick, you could still put that into factory recovery mode

It's an incredibly predictable plot. The characters are basic stereotypes. Most of the game is cut scenes and walking sim. Most of the actual gameplay is clunky stealth with crappy AI. This is not a good game and never was. The only reason it became popular is because zombies were in fashion when it came out. If you want a better game, play something like Metro: Last Light. If you want the story, just watch the tv show. The most surprising thing to come out of the series is that the show wasn't terrible. It's not something I would watch or think about ever again, but not terrible

Literally have everything on ultra in 4k at 60 fps and have 14 hours in with 0 lag, 0 stutters, no memory leaks, very consistent frames. 9900KF 4. 5GHZ 64G ddr5, GPU- 4080. I was watching thermals and %s constantly on the other monitor and noticed the game was only hitting my cpu to 75% max and not even 30% on the GPU, not even 40% on Ram usage. Maybe I just got lucky but my experience so far has been amazing. Most of my friends have AMD CPU's and have been reporting tons of issues with micro stutters and throttling. Not surprising at all to me.

After 10 years, I have to say Last of Us is a good game, but it has become so overrated, Skyrim and Resident Evil 4 are also released so many times in different platforms but Skyrim and RE4 is so ahead in terms of gameplay which give them extra value, but Last of Us as a story driven game with limited gameplay, it didn't deserve all the fame imo, it did great job with its story but I would still pick stories like Bioshock. Also because of its fame, Last of Us part 2 took some brave steps with completely wrong execution.

Honest before you buy, but god, why everyone is so delicate with stating that the game is a crap of a port. Sentences like it seem like the game is poorly optimised, see it doesn't seem, it is poorly optimised.
It is a cash grab being redone 2 times, with a unreasonable (from the plot perspective) part two.
The same hype train and cash grab as with CP2077.
Don't get me wrong, the game itself is top notch, but the way everything is now delivered is a scandal. This video should be: don't buy until sony fixes this.

Okay, the game might be a mess, but I can confirm, some specs are just lucky. A running theory is, Ryzen CPUs are just better handling this game, while intel is crashing.
I have a Legion 5 laptop with Ryzen 5600H and RTX 3060 with 16Gb RAM on windows 11 and the game on medium with DLSS just works fine! Sure, FPS is all over the place from 35-70 but never saw it under 30.
Just be patient and let the devs fix this mess. SONY will never leave the game in a bad spot, trust me; )

The fact a near 10 year old game, which already has a remastered version which sold for just 50 at launch, is now re-re-releasing for 60 - 70 depending where you buy, with the multiplayer content entirely cut, was more than enough to justify me waiting for a decent sale to get it. But the fact it also released in such a horrendous, unplayable state after being delayed. All I can say is, yikes.

there was a patch yesterday night and it started quick, my CPU was no longer maxed out at 100% on all cores, and there was no shader compilation going, which was weird. I then continued my save from launch day and it played fine. Just had no time left to play so i don't know if it is really crash-free now, but they did came through with a patch for the initial problems i witnessed.

Refunded my pre-order through Steam after reading about the debacle. This is one of the best games I've played, I shan't sully its memory by attempting to wade through the buggy shite! Will wait for it to be completely fixed and then purchase when discounted. They knew their port was garbage yet still released it so I have no qualms about not paying full price.
