10 creepy strangers discovered in open world games
video description
Despite many of Valhalla's downsides, one of the best parts about it were the mysteries like the lady of the lake.
Nearly every mystery in the game was unique and thoroughly enjoyable. More so because they were no longer fetch quests requiring a great distance to travel. They were all tied to a small area and well written. I definitely want to see that kind of side mission in future AC games or open-world games in general. It was totally unexpected but welcome from the repetitive nature of Ubisoft open-world games.

I remember the Chef for sure, and the creepy woman. But GARY is my FAVORITE! Right next to the Dunwich building. Fallout 4 may have had a Dunwich refrence, but no where near as creepy as the building in 3. I dunno, the flashbacks didn't just hit the same and I really think exploration was what made Fallout 3 so fun. 4 ruined the exploration by adding building in my opinion. I expected more weirdness in the glowing sea especially. Honestly I spent far more than the 300 hours that I did in fallout 4 than the hours put into fallout 3. I even have a heavily marked guide book because I didn't want to miss anything. The weird vault scenarios are just my favorite. Also, the layout of the fallout 4 guidebook was garbage. Also, most of those hours were me re-starting the game and cleaning up all the junk in Sanctuary. I couldn't help it. Beating the game wasn't as exciting either.

I've seen a lot of people mention they find the Gary vault scary but I only found it funny and kind of a relief from vaults full of ghouls or whatever. Speaking of ghouls, though, there was that one vault in NV full of ghouls and some of the best weapons in the game plus tons of ammo and the unique carbine, the All-American and the pulse gun. Anyway, that vault is radioactive af, so my stress levels were through the roof managing my rads while trying to not die to the ungodly amount of ghouls. It doesn't help that in NV, ghouls can sometimes say actual words between all the snarling, which makes them creepier, imo.

For me the creepiest character in The Witcher 3 is in the DLC Hearts of Stone. The Caretaker. for one thing that DLC is all about the occult so it's always creepy. you've made a pact with the devil or rather helping the devil collect on a pact. and the last part which is the longest is way creepier than Gaunter O'Dimm. you have to go to that dcrepit estate and nothing really prepares you for this guy or whatever he is. The sound of him digging graves is what announces his presence. The miasmal. well getting to it is creepier than meeting it. but the Caretaker once seen cannot be unseen. muahahahahahahaha

When it comes to elder scrolls oblivion, there is a gal you run into after the shivering isle dlc. I don't remember which town she's in, but she asks you nonchalantly what the fine for necrophilia is? You can answer and yeah weird. I laughed uncomfortably then had to ask wait what is the punishment in my state is for said act. Added fun fact Utah doesn't have one. The family can press charges for desecration of a corpse but no law about it, now you know.

I thought you were always the creepy stranger in open world games.
Hear me out.
You just randomly walk into peoples houses/lives and aid and assist them in their day to day lives and then you expect something in return, considering you just met those people you come off as quite demanding and to be honest if a random dude walked into my house and asked for a quest I d definitely comply

If CDPR actually took their time and gave a crap if cyberpunk was a decent product at release they would ve made all of the cyberpsycho encounters have some kind of environmental storytelling or backstory for the psychos. What did they actually do? Just put some fast enemies with a few unique weapons to attack us. Rinse and repeat. THE FUTURE IS TRULY UPON US

I hate to be that guy and point out a technicality with something you said that is technically wrong. You said, and I quote His sequel appearance is a lot more shocking, while the name implies Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sequel is it actually a prequel and thus I feel you should correct that if you can, or at the very least make a notation somewhere.

Here's another one:
In Octopath Traveler 2, there is a creepy girl in the east part of Crackridge that can only be found at night. When you try and talk to her, she will run outside of town. No other prompts and path actions can be used at her. And until this day, nobody knows if that girl is part of any questline.

ahh i still remember number 6. yea, during first playthrough is seriously was scary
worst part is, i noticed after 2nd playthrough that (unless the sound just bugged) even when leaving the area, the sound of someone breathing a way that isnt quite normal, keeps playing

For me the Dark Brotherhood guy who attacks you in Oblivion was annoying. Not strange per se and you do have to initiate the Dark Brotherhood quest line but the fact he just appears and attacks you in the worst part. It happened to me at low level and I kept dying.

Imagine being me, playing this non-horror game and suddenly hearing your name called out from within the vault you just entered. I genuinely did not know it was the game at first and that vault still freaks me out to this day.

These videos could just be filled with random encounters from Red Dead Redemption 2. I know the first vid had two RDR2 entries and one from RDR.
The creepiest to me has always been Sonny out in the swamps near Lakay.

HOW IS RDR2 EVEN MENTIONED BUT THE BRAITHWAITE SECRET NOT ON THIS LIST? That was easily the creepiest random encounter for sue over anything in this list, respectfully, but how does that get missed in a category like this.

Studies done decades ago found that bathing rooms in read light would make people tense and anxious, and green would make people paranoid and jumpy. Blue light, meanwhile would calm and eventually depress people.
