Dead Island 2 - 10 Things You NEED TO KNOW Joel: Old fashioned and Xbox 360 era are not a bad thing at all. That was the most ingenuitive era of gaming. Bioshock, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Red Dead Redemption, Bulletstorm, Timeshift, Max Payne 3, Fallout 3, Dead Island, Mirror's Edge, Battlefield: Bad Company, Spec Ops: The Line, Arkham Knight. The next gen was battle royales, microtransactions, reviving finished franchises in a not so good way, and Soulsborne inspired rip-offs. Titanfall and a few other games were unique but I miss the 360 era. Wildlands felt 360 era and that was the better of the two Nomad games! As far as PS3, Last of Us vs LoU2. Let's be real here.

Almost ten years since announcement and it's just the same game with better graphics. Even the story is more boring. Oh cool. We get a zombie frenzy mode? That's not even new. Not even weapon modifications are that different. What a waste for such a long period of waiting. Ooh. Elemental weapons. That too not new. Even the flesh system isn't new or innovative, just a slightly better version of Dead Island's disembowlment. Skill cards instead of using rpg elements? Why not both? Man said like the original game so much its like he doesn't notice they've just regurgitated almost all the same crap

I think I prefer a semi open world game. The areas typically offer more rewarding exploration, are less overwhelming, and there can be more variety in environments. Two great examples are Jedi Fallen Order and The Outer worlds. I suppose Hitman belongs on this list as well.
Most developers just don't have the time to flesh out their massive open worlds as much as they would probably like to. Here's looking at you Ubisoft.

Why is everyone going on about this location based skin, muscle, deformation etc like it's something new? The first one had exactly this, location based bone breaking, different layers of muscle etc that would be cut or burnt off. Sure this is far more sophisticated due to it being ten years + later, but the first game had the exact same concept and it was sophisticated then.

Wasn't aware it wasn't open world but honestly with the way it's seemingly set up this seems perfectly fine. Even the first dead island is like this to an extent anyway where you start at the resort area and then eventually move to the jungle and eventually the prison. First time i've been excited for a game since elden ring.

I didn't complete Dead Island 1 or Riptide until 2022 and I loved them despite the reviews and valid criticism. They are actually better than Dying Light in a few ways, worse in others. I'm not recommending people pre-order Dead Island 2, but I did. I really just want the physical swag, steelbook and cards that come with it

I remember the original trailer and it was pretty awesome. Same year Destiny came out lol, seems like forever.
But because it's not open world, I am highly skeptical and have decided not to buy. Been burned way too many times with game hype. After Callisto Protocol, I don't pre order, or even buy 1st day anymore. Shame.

the only thing ppl should know is, that PPL who bought the first dead island, spendet MONEY to see the game just vapooorize from its steam library shortly after. so dont exspect ANYTHING dont buy! Game will fail shortly after again since nothing changed. tehy go full BLESS and sell via hype, thats it.

3: 21 going to have to go with no for this. Not saying Dead island did it first but between the two it came out WAY before dying light so if anything it would be getting it's crown back. The drop kick however is original to dying light I'll give you that.

I hope the game hypes me as much as the announcement trailer did 8 years ago! This game was announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2014! I didn't think this game would ever see the light of day lol. I was actually waiting for articles saying it was cancelled

Whoever buys this game is foolish. It s clearly been in development hell for too long. Going through reiteration after reiteration. The final product looks like Dam Busters said let s cobble something together real quick and be done with this.

Man it being a open world would have been way better. Progression through zones sucks. 70 bucks turned me off first but zones. :( So if we cant go back to a zones the collectable we missed are gone forever unless we do another play through.

All I know is that if they have some of those super rare easter egg mods its bound to be a good time. If they have something close to the HEAVY DUTY mod with the Metal Kanobo, then were launching zombies into the stratosphere ladies and gents!

The RPG elements and openish world is what made Dead Island a great zombie game. I am VERY skeptical that this game will be Dead Island or if it will be far too influenced by other games out there. I didn't see any driving footage. Cars?

1: 27 don't worry like the first dead island weapons won't actually break they will just deteriorate to a point where they won't be useful and u have to repair them its not like dying light where you can only repair a weapon like once or twice
