I am glad to hear all this information since I preordered it and I want something that I can enjoy playing but progress through a game. I just wish Assassin’s Creed Codename Red; would get me excited for the title but if this is good and Ghost of Tsushima 2 remains as good as the original then good bye AC you had a good run but you were done dirty in the end. I found Odyssey boring, I have Valhalla but not played it and went right into mirage which is okay, once I got Hogwarts legacy I decided to play that instead, cause AC has gotten boring; loved it through Origins but beyond is boring and almost pointless with no tightening up the plot wholes left by 4.

I think it is a matter of debate, but in my opinion there are tiers of games, not AAA and AA, but actually in relation to how much of my time the game is worth, as a married man with less avaiable time than most unemployed students, games like this feel like a simple no thank you PASS, as there are so many games nowadays and there are enough of them good enough that they are worth my time (all relative to opinion I know, so I simply don’t have the time to spend on an okayish game, rather spend the time (and money ) I have on the very good or great ones.
I don’t hate this game, but I also don’t feel compelled to play it over the many others available.

Dis game has the kinda mechanics Sekiro did which made me uninstall Sekiro cos I got a lot of work to do, lots to study and a lot more other games to finish than to solely focus on mastering a game with tough mechanics(no offence to those who have a lot of time to do so, there are a lot more hard games, and I love hard games but they don't require too much time to master
I loved Sekiro but I barely have the time, I just hope dis game is less complicated like Sekiro cos I'mma give it a shot!

I'm actually surprised how difficult the game is even on easy mode, I know nioh was a hard especially the bosses but I found the normal enemies to start with you could hack and slash but this game is so heavy bent on Parry it's crazy but hey we know these games are challenge but may not be for everyone so before you buy guys just remember this game will kick your butt if you don't play with a friend or don't learn those sword techniques good journey everyone.

Allready played it and my main grievence is, that the parry timer feels slightly off. It is different from other games that also imbue perfect parry (I was almost always too early. You have to parry on impact, not on start of the animation. I tried out easy mode. It doesn't take away much from the combat but you get a slightly bigger window for perfect parry and a slightly elongated stagger timer for enemies.

Glad you liked it Jake! The difference between the mixed reviews looks like to come from expectations and what the game actually is. People who expected another GoT game (although the comparison is logical) seems a bit disappointed while people who expected an open world Team Ninia game looks satisfied with it. I’m on your page, glad you liked it. Can’t wait to dive in this weekend!

Love the gameranx videos, never missed one since a couple months ago but this review feels very biased towards PlayStation. If it weren’t a PlayStation exclusive it would’ve gotten a more harsh review like other non exclusive games you have done reviews for, specifically for the graphics and environment. Like I said, love your videos but I prefer fair and honest opinions.

I've canceled my preorder. The game is low quality, and I'm not talking about graphics. The whole game feels poorly done. Animations are low, and this is definitely not worth 70$. I've spent almost 1000 hours in Nioh 1 and 2, and I loved them, but this is even lower quality than Wo Long was. Huge disappointment. I was waiting for it very much.

To me this game is ghost of Tsushima meets red dead redemption only say that cause rifles and revolver but I love this game so far I don’t mind that it’s not the best looking cause I’m having a blast playing it this game makes my so wet and I didn’t know that was possible (drunk as hell as write this)

This is the only gameplay that I've watched and thought, oh this looks decent. All the other gameplay I've seen looks like decent combat but everything else is weak/lifeless. Rough graphics, poor performance, weak story, lifeless world. This gameplay looks pretty great though. Still got them 2005 horse animations

Watching the gameplay it doesn’t look very good tbhbut it’s actually pretty fun and in depth it’s not a Ghost Of Tsushima 1. 5 or anthing it’s a way different game but as someone who’s beat Ghost like 5 times 100% it. I can only play it so much so I’m enjoying rise of ronin for what it is

Thanks for the amazing description. I really thought it was going to be top notch graphics and would be deeper and more precise than GOT. Glad you clarified that bit. I didn’t play red Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War Ragnarok, or Assassin Creed Mirage. So I might just go with one of these instead.

This games graphics makenit look like im watching a bunch of tiny people in a tiny world. I think its the lighting and occasional simple textures thats the main issue. The animations also look a bit robotic. But the lighting is definitely way too simple.

That game got released in a very unfortunate window.
Even if I want to play it, I have limited amount of time that I would rather put in DD2 and if I finish that one, Forbidden West would be my next choice since I know I enjoyed combat in a first one.

Team ninja have always had overly flashy games but the over all graphics are trash. I didnt really mind it for neo but after playing the first and second neo, wo long looked horrible, it felt like a reskin of neo buuuuttt still very fun

A ps5 exclusive with ps4 graphics and an uninspired story and glitchy combat this game was a waste of my money and time i rlly recommend waiting for it to go on sale if anyone planning to play it cuz its definitely not worth 70 dollars
reply

Rise of the Ronin is better than Dragon's Dogma. As least Rise of the Ronin has a compass to tell you where to go.
Dragon's Dogma 2, you have to figure out where to go, that's not fun to me. I got lost in games doing that. Enough said.

reply

game looks fun, to bad it is stuck being a exclusive. exclusivity really ruins gaming for me tbh. shame guess i won't be playing this one unless they release it for other consoles if they do years from now. great review though!
reply

Don’t really understand the complaining about the graphics. They look fine maybe not PS5 exclusive worthy but fine nonetheless. Dragon’s dogma graphics are in the same exact boat slightly upgraded from 12 years ago.
reply

I’ll probably wait for a sale, mainly because KT games lose value insanely fast and I’m still annoyed by paying full price for Wild Hearts, which you guys should have reviewed harsher.
Looks funish, but not 70usd fun.
