Just played the Luna Abyss demo.
It definitely has very striking aesthetics.
Though its GUI doesn't quite fit its environmental aesthetics and atmospherics.
It plays like a Bullet Hell FPS, and it absolutely does not remind me of Mirror's Edge.
However what it does remind me of instead is Metroid Prime, because a lot of the ways the gameplay works (shooting doors with guns) automatic lock on to enemies. Are all here as part of the core gameplay.
And its aesthetics remind me of control TBH.
It's just a 52 minute long demo. And I definitely enjoyed it, and will look forward to what it ends up becoming.

That John Carpenter game reminds me of an old mobile I used to play way back in the day. Can't think of the name of it rn (maybe like zombie highway or something) but you picked a car and it went down an endless highway, with zombies on the sides of it that would jump onto the sides of your car and try to flip you over. You had to scrape them off the sides of your car using debris on the highway or I think you had guns that had limited ammo as well. It was all about trying to get the biggest distance in one run.
Anyways that John Carpenter game reminds me of that, just in 1st person with a big AAA budget behind it.

Can I ask a genuine question I struggle pretty bad with anxiety and lately have felt so much guilt playing video games as an adult.
My mind tells me to have more productive hobbies and I feel like I’m wasting my life away even though they are definitely in moderation. Even one hour a day is like 2 weeks a year. And if you live to be 80, that’s 3. 5 years of your life spent on gaming.
Has anyone else felt this way before What helped I’m almost 30 with a family and have time anxiety pretty bad. I don’t want to waste my life.

I know it was released at the end of last year, so not really what this list is about, but I played El Paso Elsewhere at the beginning of January. So far it's not just the best shooter I've played this year but also for a pretty long time. Outside of great gameplay it also has a surprisingly in depth and emotional story. I started it just wanting to shoot a bunch of stuff but it really dragged me in to the point that every cut scene was a joy I always looked forward to.

Honestly, at this point in the life cycle of videogames as a whole, FPS games REEEEEEALLY need to stand out. Like, a LOT. Because if not, they drown in an ocean of powerfully mediocre 1st person shooters. The same goes for Roguelikes and Roguelites. Theres trillions of them so if they're gonna try at ALL, then they need to try a ton in order to get traction with a fanbase. All that being said I hope ALL of these hit their marks and are successful in some way.

Pioner looks to be a mmo as well which is. not great sounding on top of pvp. We got too many pvpve games these days, not sure why this keeps happening since so many fail. On the plus side after some research it at least looks like you can not do the pvp in it, devs said it was separate in a way. Still tho mmo does not inspire confidence, I have never really seen a great mmo other than like wow(I also personally kind of like eso.

the first fps i ever played was resistance
mouse kinda looks like mickey mouse meets bendy and the ink machine and possibly with a bit of cuphead thrown in for the powers
mickey mouse IS public domain BUT steamboat is still trademarked in a way that its not allowed to be used, disney managed to loop hole a way to protect it, matpats video on copyright and trademark explains it better than i could

damn no mention of xdefiant thats the one im actually waiting for but i do know its been very quiet on the xdefiant front in terms of news so maybe it wont actually drop in 2024 even tho i think it really should and most likely will if last heard all that was keeping it from release was some approvals from platform holders i dont see why it would drop at some point in 2024

I’m fed up of people throwing around Bioshock vibes’ or clearly inspired by Bioshock’. In what way were any of these games similar at all to Bioshock Becuase they’re dark and FPS All it does it create inevitable disappointment when these games come out and are, surprise surprise, nothing at all like Bioshock. Atomic Heart I’m looking at you

bah, i'm too poor to play these new games and all upcoming games since a few years ago.
not because of the games' prices but i can't even upgrade my GPU from dx11 to dx12.
what annoys me is that some dx12 games even come up with crappy graphics that i'm sure dx11 can handle but the devs are adamant that it needs dx12.

Remember when lists like this were full of AAA games I guess it makes sense that they don't do E3 anymore because 90% of games are indies I have never heard of and if I ever play them. It will be a year out of release when its 70% off. What the hell is going on in the Gaming industry

If you happen to do a video on 3rd person games, I definitely think you guys should include The First Descendant. It comes out later this year, I played the beta for it and its awesome! It's like titanfall gunplay mixed with abilities similar to Anthem. I have hopes for that game!

What is Black Hawk Dawn’ I’ve heard of Black Hawk Down’. Stalker 2 visuals looks severely downgraded compared to reveal gameplay footage too which had full ray traced reflections. Exo Mechanic was supposed to have been out in 2022 to 2022 lol. Probably vapourware.

When I first seen the trailer for Stalker 2 I was so excited it looked new and refreshing compared to the games I play on xbox. Since they added the older games on xbox I can confidently say Stalker 2 is now my most hyped game for this year

Phantom Fury does not look like a Build game even a little, weirdo. And what pixel art are you talking about regarding PF Did you see the game you're talking about Anyway, it's unfortunate, cause apparently it plays terribly.

2: 35 That's Colonel John R. (Rusty) Blade from SiN franchise. It would be so good that we get the sequel to SiN Episodes: Emergence, second episode. The SiN is a good franchise, that I would love to continue Blade's journey

Love gameranx but i gotta be honest I hate when they make these vidoes and half of the games on the list has a TBA release window, yet the title says 2024. 90% of these games wont come out till 2025/2026 im sure
reply

Mouse's Steam page says 2025. Not 2024. I love your videos, and I watch them almost every day. But we're being a little loose with the date 2024 here, and loose is a loose use of the fact. X)
reply

I started watching Gameranx when they first started talking about Exomecha and remember how Jake was skeptical of how legit it was. Seemed like this game was never going to get a release date

FPS games are not a thriving genre. They’re bleeding lifelong players to single player games because of how oppressive the cheating epidemic is and how apathetic the devs seem to be to it.
