ACTUALLY If you have a 120Hz capable monitor/TV/display, and leave the game at default Quality Mode. It runs at / switches to 40fps in a 120Hz container (1/3 of the Refresh rate, which is not possible on a 60Hz display, unless you want a 20fps experience) - 40fps is, to me the perfect middle ground. With higher picture quality and 10fps more than 40fps. 10 more fps does make a surprising difference. It's a shame that 120Hz display (or higher) isn't a standard. Since 60Hz monitor has long been missing this kind of middle ground, you either match the fps to 60Hz = 60fps or 1/2 rate at 30fps. but I digress, another thing I want to mentions is that FO4's current 40fps doesn't feel as smooth as it should. Among many 40fps implementations, the best I found is still on Spider-Man 2. Impeccable smooth 40fps, I played the game with smooth 40fps from start to finish. it's really nice.

I kinda like the VERY VISIBLE nature of FO4's skill tree. But it kinda lacks 'flavor'. I mean, a shotgun, combat rifle, laser rifle, etc are covered by the same perk taken 5x. NV had shotgun specialist perks, energy weapon specific perks - starfield has some serious fo4 issues, but at least had enough sense to add ammo type skills and gun type skills, so a semmi auto smg, revolver, energy pistol, radiation gun, and severed robot head aren't all just 'handguns'.
I also get that, if i want a grid, 7 skills, 10 ranks is kinda a limit - kinda. Could've had plenty of other perks based on doing stuff - ballistic, energy kills get X perk, some more niche weapons might've had a unique perk, etc.

For those running PC and already upgraded there are two groups of mods that you want to stay away from until to hear back from them: Script Extender and any engine patches INCLUDING the Unofficial Patch. Script Extender has to attach to specific code locations in order for it to rework so it has to get re-sized, and this update corrected a number of issues (I think even Out of Time got patched) so you don't want those patches overwriting any of Bethesda's work until we figure out what has been fixed.
Other than that there is a large number of mods that should work just fine. Anything that would work on consoles, minus the engine fixes, is fair game for now.

Everyone saying they want a bee Vegas remaster is crazy.
I want a a full on /remake/ like they did with dead space one. Just a step up from remaster, because it would be on a whole new engine and have more content. Probably some changes to the story here and there to account for new stuff added as well as restored cut content.
Now that would be amazing.
Also yeah, I know Fallout 4 New Vegas is in the works, and I’m super excited for it! It’s just not the same as theoretically having the official developers do that and be able to add more content on par with the old stuff as well as remaking it.

Before you buy, don't buy this garbage
The day the game released and i turned it on, my 1st fallout game, the shit looked and felt 10 years old alreadymad clunky, horrible to look at and the most mundane setting imaginable.
I heard ppl say wait till you encounter your first deathclaw. mine was sunk halfway into the ground and couldn't move but could take damage so that was that.
Npcs are mindless n the list goes on BUT who in their right mind would give bethesda money after all the shit theyve served us since skyrim

Damn, people really complain about everything. We finally get the update we've wanted for years, and then start complaining that it breaks mods. Updates for software (especially games) are normal, and of course, it breaks things. I am sure there is going to be a compatibility fix for old mods, too.
No update -> complaining
Update-> complaining
If they added more, it wouldve broken more mods. More broken mods -> more complaining. Insanity.

I came in at fallout 4 and I can't get past it. I have bought them all on pc and have PS4 version of 4 and 76. I'm still a tourist but 4 is the definitive version for me. I found new vegas ugly and 76 annoying with other people running around the place so they can keep updating 4 forever and I'll keep playing it. After 10 minutes of starfield I removed it and replaced it with 4 again and it's staying there until London.

For some reason I'm having a hard time getting myself back into this game and I was pumped for it when they announced it. It could be because I just spent 300 hours playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and earning the incredibly frustrating Platinum or it just took to long from its announcement to release it. What am I kidding it's Fallout I'll be deep into This game by the weekend!

Fallout 4 is, always was and always will be a broken, ugly mess. Full of badly dressed, boring, dead eyed npcs that send you on uninteresting fetch quests in a muddy textured world full of washed out colours.
I wish Bethesda had been smart enough to bring out a new one because all this talk about Fallout 4 again is just reminding me of its never ending potential to disappoint.

I just started my 4th FO4 run two days ago with heavy mods. Was in the middle of playing it when the update hit. I THOUGHT I had disabled auto-update but No. Guess I get to start over AGAIN in a few months when we know which mods will or won't be updated. Sigh. Still a GREAT game! Falcon just hates it when there's an actual story to sit through between killing things.

so back around September 2023 I upgraded my pc (mainly to play starfield) and I had an old copy of Fallout 4 that I transferred over from my old pc. I just recently started playing Fallout 4 again and to do so I had to re-download the whole game and DLCs. I'm not sure that I got the new version but I hope so cause I'm looking forward to crushing those Enclave ambushers

Bahaha, i just finished the TV series, so I thought I'll install on my PS5. it crashes on start up, re-installed, reboot, etc. Still won't boot! Lol, almost as good as Starfield.
Apparently, it's two of the DCL's that screw the installation. So I've had to re-download. I'll be trying again this afternoon without those 2 contents installed.

This game has been my favorite game of all time ever since i picked ut up at the Midnight premiere for the ps4 at Gamestop with the Employee telling my friend and I Have a good vacation in Boston guys.
I am so glad to see this game make it's triumphant return! This game isn't perfect but it is criminally underrated imo.

A lot of people: EVERYTHING IS BROKEN!
Me: hee hee, PS5 performance mode
(I don't use a lot of mods so i can't really relate to what everyone else is feeling. It's a shame the graphics don't look better but I'm cool with this free upgrade)
I mean, people still make mods for this, right I'm pretty sure things can be mended

I’m happy for this update it fixed the Lexington towers where I had to save Rex. There was some serious geometry glitches where walls with no collision were spawning in the entrance and throughout various floors. I got killed by a few super mutants at first until I realized it was a glitch and I could pass through them

People acting like Bethesda actually care about mods just because they allow for them That's not how real life works. Just like how I'm not going back and playing Fallout 4 again just because they gave it a next gen update, all because of a TV show. The show was fine. not going back to play Fallout fine. Y'all do you.

It’s terrible the game crashes alot more the when pigs fly quest is broken none of the weapons actually show up and the way the quest work looks rushed af plus creation club stuff is broken now and i paid money for some of it i knew it would happen Bethesda wont fix this either about next gen lol
reply

The fact that they're calling it a next gen update kinda grinds my gears. It's the same tech from 2015 but in 4k, ultrawide and 60 fps. Which is great for console players, don't get me wrong, but still. It was like a marketing trick, ya know Also, RIP Fallout London; I can't stress that enough.
reply

I seriously don't get how this is a hard choice. If the update ruins some mods on PC; WHY THE ACTUAL FU(K would you install the update In every aspect of the game, (presentation & graphics, fixes & performance, gameplay additions etc) mods are INFINITELY superior to this minimalistic update.
reply

I had fallout 4 on ps4 now I have a ps5 and it kept crashing, I see everyone saying PlayStation is charging them $25 to upgrade I got the upgrade for free but the game never played as the ps4 version on my console. Hopefully it works I just wanna play I would’ve paid the $25 idec
