The reveal felt like one of those infomercials where the host keeps going but wait, there's more as they just kept going down a list that blizzard would have turned into a half century or so of content, or just binned for putting creativity ahead of monetisation.
The skill gems and passive tree system were what got me to buy into the originals beta, played for a bit and upgraded to a higher bundle. Bought a number of the supporter packs since then and have got access to the beta for POE2 as a result.
I'm no minmaxxer by any extent but the potential to experiment with new gems and find out how far I can take something knowing that at somepoint it will fall flat. It's a game with complexity but a fair bit is down to the cult of meta members pushing guides that lock folk into playing trade of exile with starter builds that require specific unique items to work.
6 months for final polish, the games been worked on for quite a while and a good number of the systems have been tested in the original via leagues
The EA price is buying that cash value of shop points, if they follow the same routine as for POE1 there will be regular sales for things like stash tabs so that money can go quite a long way.

I have been playing PoE since its launch. I can remember when you only had 3 acts and had to repeat them 3 times to get to the end game. I love this game and I have gotten so many of my friends and my wife into playing the game. I already have my early acce3ss, I got it as soon as it was available. I like the fact that all the microtransactions are only to help pay for game development and you can not PTW in any way in the game.
I also like the fact that they have 2 separate teams of game devs (PoE team and PoE2 team) and will still be planning updates and further development of mechanics and gameplay for PoE even after PoE2 fully launches.
Hope to see you in game one day Falcon! May the Beast always sleep!

I recently tried the first one, they say you need to follow a build guide or you will likely lock out your character. They didn't mention you need to follow a guide guide to understand the build guide. I followed a beginner friendly guide, but they use all these acronyms which mean nothing to a new player, it wanted me to download and install some program to use the guide, it all seemed like too much for me. Maybe someone knows a better place to find a guide

1 for being honest about not being sure how to pronounce _foci_ - in English you can simply say it like you did, unless you wanna sound like a nerd and go with the reconstructed Classical Latin pronunciation _FO-kee_ (at the risk of not being understood.
That said, I'm going with the $99 Supporter Pack - I have no problem swiping for such a deserving game and studio.

I don't agree Path of Exile you needed a Masters degree in Character creation! Sorry I am not spending 100 hours of wasted life to not be able to finish the game because level 50 character was built wrong and you have to start over because you cannot advance. I am not getting a Doctorate Degree in Character creation to play this game I will do a easy pass on this!

One thing I really hate about these games.
I never know what build type to do!
It's actually frustrating. In the past with other games I usually do bow or something. Sword and shield. But dammit now, if I see clips of a two hander bonker I go ohhh damn I wanna do that. Then I see magic user and go that looks sick! I wanna do that now and so on.

It is deeply frustrating to see game reviewers/journalists criticize incomplete releases (this is totally justified and good, then turn around and hype up early access releases which are, by their very nature, incomplete.
It's even more annoying when the early access status is presented as an afterthought or fine print.

This looks great. Never played the first POE game, but did hack my way through a good chunk of Diablo 3 back in the day, and had a lot of fun. Will definitely check this out. Would be a perfect SteamDeck game for me, but I notice that it’s in the unknown category as far as compatibly with SteamDeck. Oh well. XBox it is.

I like Path of Exilesto an extent. I have a life so I can’t go super into it. You can’t customizeyour character till WAY later in the game. I’m thinking. But I don’t know yet.
It definitely reminds me of Diablo 2. Just WAY more complex and tedious.
With all that said, I love the challenge

11: 10 I’m glad they decided to dumb down the amount of loot. One of the things that grew old on me with Diablo was constantly having to check my inventory ever couple of minutes because I wanted to make sure I had the best gear equipped. That game just throws piles of loot at you constantly.

After Baldur’s Gate 3, I should give games that don’t look for me, a chance. Baldur’s Gate 3 looked like some boring WoW gaming. Oh boy what a disservice I’d have done myself if I never played it. Path 1 didn’t look good because it was too much like Diablo which is a snooze-fest to me.

diablo immortal went for p2w players so i thouht maybe diablo 4, diablo 4 went for casual players so i thought now i have to wait all the time until diablo 5 to get a diablo 2- look alike wich we all realy want. But no - the wait is over! thank you path of exile 2!
reply

I bought Diablo 4 at launch and only put a few hours in. I finally deleted it to make space for Baldurs Gate 3, which I also bought at launch and only put a few hours into.
I want to want this game, but Diablo 4 needs to be finished with every character first.

I've never played a free to play game, but I really want to try Path of Exile 2, and I don't know what to expect. I don't understand this method of remuneration, what will I have to buy just to run the campaign Anyway, I'm going to do some research.

Up to around a year for early access. They never stated it will be 6 months, that is the earluest but not likely. How are you not providing the full context of this If the game had microtransactions the tone of this preview would be so different
reply

The game that could unite generations. Like I would be surprised if this thing doesn't break steam servers when its out. I feel this could break a million concurrent while in early access which would be insane. (Ill be a lightning sorc btw)
reply

Calling for not paying $30 for a game that IS GOING TO BE FREE. What do companies think they live off Don't be f rats and pay less than half of what Blizzard asks for to give you a game that a year and a half later is still garbage.
reply

oh gosh, I played waaaay too much PoE over the years. I am NOT excited for this, if it ends up being good then fine but I wouldnt hold my breath. GGG have let down the player base waaaaay too many times for me to get excited for this.
reply

Isn’t it odd
That nowadays we have to be really convinced to try a free to play game)
And it takes more convincing than buying a game on a discount)
[or at list - that’s how it is for me]

reply

I'm personally going to play POE2 but you kidding to think it will have an many players as people would hope. It's not casual enough to reach a wide enough audience which frankly is the majority.
