Stop killing games is just something that was poorly advertised by the people running the campaign and also average joe does not care. Most of them have their life with friends and kids and they play threw a game once and forget about it after it's done.
People simply do not care if random game xyz gets removed from a store that was available for 10 years or if the store of Nintendo console xyz gets closed after 10 / 15 years. Sure it's bad, but the vast majority of people simply move on.
Most games on the PC plattform are kind of preserved by the nature of the plattform. So in the case of the PC community you automatically lose millions of people.
Also: What Stop killing games carefully hides is the fact, that many titles would need to be A LOT more expensive on release, since the publishers need to plan for playable forever.
Imagine companies like Bungie would need to make Destiny 2 playable forever meaning keeping the Servers up forever. Many MMOs or Service Games would need to be playable forever after release even if they are a financial disaster (concord for example.
It's just something you cant easily solve with just make it available forever like stop killing games demands.

SKG did get enough signatures to be presented to the UK Parliament in May 2024, so a year ago now, where lawmakers looked at it and very quickly said, 'Nah, we have more important things to deal with, ' and nothing came of it. Just asking for signatures isn’t enough. Just getting infront of lawmakers isn't enough by itself.
If you want things to change, you need to change people - you need to make them care. If people don’t care, lawmakers won’t care. The initiative should have focused first on raising awareness and building public support; asking for signatures to take it to lawmakers should have been one of the final steps, not one of the first. The signature drive ran out of steam, and now Ross have run out of steam because of it. He had good intentions, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

If this seems condescending then it is being misunderstood: how is signing a digital petition to the very people that ensured that the common person could NOT possess digital property going to accomplish anything Nothing wrong with being a normie but these occasional strolls through heavy political topics is short sighted. The root of this issue is that something like a Bill of Rights was thwarted from extending into the digital domain. What we need is a digital Bill of Rights for everyone not just corporations. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS for video games. You will own nothing and be happy. I have further bad news: who is the most powerful politician that has argued in favor of digital rights Yeah being a normie is fine but it can also be like a child lost in a grocery store having no idea who the good or bad people really are.

It doesn't matter how specific it is or how wide a net it casts. It's just about bringing attention towards the gaming industries awful business practices that leaves the consumers vulnerable to getting robbed of the things they paid for.
The specifics DO NOT MATTER. It's just about bringing attention to this stuff. If you're living in the EU, PLEASE SIGN IT! Digital ownership is a wild west legally speaking where basically anything goes. Laws need to be put in place to ensure the consumers has some rights whenever they purchase their games. This is the best way to get lawmakers to pay attention.

Playing Astria Ascending and just bought Metaphor: RePhantazio from the Steam sale (along a couple of other jrpgs. Expedition 33 drew me on a JRPG binger. I've avoided these like the plague because I hate the anime style and the female characters that vocalize like they're on a pronflick. But after a couple ones, you kinda get used to it. sort of. As an old(er) geezer these pull some nostalgia strings since back in the day all RPG's were turn based combat and I guess the Japanese stuck to that longer than the western front. Can only hope that the success of E33 will bring out more of the same stuff. I'm lovin' it.

If I really love a game, and there is a physical copy I can buy, I buy it. Even though the game can still be killed, and/or there are patches, updates, DLC and the like. I remember the old days (1990s) when you bought a game on disc, it arrived complete, and you owned the game (kind of) forever. If you had the console, had the game - and as time went on, an old CRT TV or the right adapters - you could always play. We kept the PS1 version of Area 51, the console, an old ass TV, and the light guns, for a long LONG time.

I think monster hunter wilds is an overall upgrade of world. Problem is. i can't play it properly when I turn up the graphics. (I'm on PC by the way. I don't have a super high-end PC. I know I can't play it at max but damn, I need to turn on all the extra fake FPS settings just to be able to play it properly. (Why is that even the norm now) I've also heard that the issue was CAPCOM's anti piracy software and that they will remove it eventually but I don't know. This just takes away all the fun from the experience.

It's an initiative to get EU lawmakers to research & investigate an issue citizens are having. That's it. Solutions are the lawmakers' responsibility, after the petition is delivered to them.
EU legislators are legally obligated to look into & discuss citizen's initiatives, if they reach the 1 million signature threshold.

This SKG movement is pure entitlement and will result in less games coming out due to risk assessments, and even if a game does release, this is the biggest argument the industry will have to raise the prices. Example: because game x needs to have servers for x years up and running, the game company has much more reason at that point to be selling at that $100 mark. But nobody can see the long picture. Sigh.

This reminds me of a No Sleep Podcast episode where the main character worked overnight at a grocery store. He was told stay out of certain aisles, dnt look down certain aisles etc etc. Well he def did & was chased all night by 2 evil beings except in the manager office. He quit as soon as the next shift came in which explained why the girl at the beginning of the story ran outta there when he came.

Stopped playing MH after 108 hours. Enjoyed what I played, but got bored and totally understand how the technical issues could scare people away. I had pretty decent results (with frame-gen running on an RX6600 8gb GPU/Ryzen 5 7600 at 1080P w/ decent settings) which was completely playable, but the anti cheat stuff/RE engine definitely creates some issues

Jake, I feel you on Leon not being the MC for Requiem, but Capcom said the game will be roughly 30 years after Racoon City first events. wouldn't Leon be kinda an old dude right now Still bad ass, ofc, but he would be pushing 50

Have you seen the Kickstarter trailer for Ahoy It's an 18th century naval multiplayer game with a high level of accuracy. Yes there are pirates as well. Honestly, the trailer is one of the most professional and inspiring overviews I've ever seen. They just hot 500% funding. This team is killing it.

3: 30 the online is iffy but any single player game should be easy. Flip script sell the big box comerrative edition available only for a limited time & produce what’s ordered. But absolutely complete physical copies.
The easiest would be a 3rd party organization, Council of the grey beards.

They actually said she was average, but also as a member of the FBI she would be trained in firearms. And Leon wouldn’t make sense because he wouldn’t fit into the atmosphere, due to him being well versed in the bioengineered monster department. He’s too bad ass basically.

I’m not a die hard Monster Hunter guy but have casually played others. I was stoked for Wilds and actually bought a physical copy on release. I played it for about 14 hours and just gave up. It’s a good game but brought nothing new to the table so playing it made me feel stagnant.

It's not just games being killed. Music being pulled from streaming services, or versions of songs being permanently replaced with remasters or re-recordings, and same for movies with remasters or censored versions. Not all remasters are perfect!
