I was expecting Jake to come out of the gate like yooo best game everrrr. Why Because I think it might be. I’m 39, and I’m a big gaming fan but I’m maybe not as entrenched as someone like Jake or Falcon. I don’t play every game from start to finish even if it’s pretty good. I usually only stick around for games that inspire me and my imagination (oh and assuming they haven’t been spoiled in some way. So to give you some idea of my tastes, I realllllly enjoyed BotW, OoT (have a tattoo of it, recently Hogwarts Legacy (but I can’t help but wonder if that experience was more of thinking of the possibilities while playing then the actual stuff they gave us, Spider-Man 1 and 2, BG3 (didn’t finish it in Act 3 because I got overwhelmed and the guards are triggered everytime I get close.
Anyways that’s all to say that if you liked all of those games then DKB is going to excite you. I played it for 6 hours straight (hasn’t happened in a long time) and still wasn’t bored of the things it kept presenting me. It’s a little mindless, the places I’m enjoying some things but hey big monke smash everything makes for a satisfying loop. Hope that helps someone! Oh but yeah the frame drops are hella lame. I can’t help but think, this game is gonna be (even more) lit on the Switch 3.
So if you ask me if the game is worth paying full price today and buying a new console over Absolutely. We’re not promised tomorrow and there aren’t many things in life that seem to inspire joy like this did for me. Take care.

I've played for roughly ten hours or so. Absolutely love the game. Mario Odyssey might be my favorite single player game of all time and this feels like I am playing Odyssey 2.
The only bad things I have to say about DK Bananza so far is performance takes a hit specially in boss fights. It's not to the point where it becomes annoying so overall it is OK. The map being so laggy is a bit frustrating though I have to say.
The other negative thing is the game is. too free I feel like sometimes. I guess you could argue it's a part of the games charm) A lot of bananas got paths to them, but you can skip everything by bashing through the ceilings/grounds/walls. This also became a huge issue in some boss fights for me because some of the boss fights got really cool mechanics, but you can skip it by some clever movement maneuvering. One boss had some vines/leaves you were supposed to run on, but I put on the Ostrich bananza and skipped all of it and killed the boss really fast.
With that being said the game is awesome. It surprised me in so many ways, and if you enjoy platformers you will definitely like this one as well.

Does a 3rd-person 3D game exist that people don't complain about the camera in I genuinely don't know what players want. Zoom it out more Zoom it in more Not have it controllable on the right stick Have it zoom all the way in anytime you go behind something instead of see through things Apart from letting players control the sensitivity and maybe give some other customization options idk what devs can realistically do on this front, but I feel like this comes up about every single game in this category.
Edit: Should probably note that I haven't had the chance to play this yet lol, but I don't think this review elaborated on what was wrong with it. I see some comments talking about an annoying camera shake that can be turned off, and maybe things moving around too fast, both of which are understandable issues. Not trying to hate, either; I just don't understand this complaint and I see it a lot. This was a nice review and the game looks fun. :)

Not buying this. Just a collaboration of ideas for mechanics from their other games. No original thought in this game. Doesn’t seem like u get to play any other Kongs, so that’s lame ya Pamela weird choice. Really For such an open world freedom game linear is putting it mildly. The world literally looks like a sonic game. The design for DK is cool until u look at his face. Idk why but them eyes with the black around em just don’t fit right. This game is solely for little kids who just wanna smash stuff and solve puzzles/boss fight.

Thanks for the spoilers i your Spoiler free video. Come on guys, you do know you can blur out BOSs NAMES right
Graphics are mediocre, shadows are horrid, everything in the distance shimmers or looks like they are behind Vaseline smeared glass and the slowdown is insanely noticeable and happens a LOT, like MORE than BotW.
Game is also a blast.
Typical Nintendo game. One step forward, 2 steps back. The reviews are hilarious considering how bad the performance and graphics are at times.
Switch 2 was a mistake

As a lifelong Donkey Kong fan. I can say that I will not continue playing this title. While it deserves the 10/10. My obsessive nature to want to punch my way through everything makes me manic and obsessive in the most unhealthy way possible. To the point where I’m no longer having fun and it feeling more of an obligation due to the fear of missing out on items, loot, or bonus stages. I cannot, and will not continue. But to those who enjoy this game. I’m very glad and more power to you.

Counting the frames is a exageration. The most i saw it droping was to 30 fps while capturing hours of playing. It only fells like it drops more than 30 fps because the game seems to have have been programmed to drop to 30 fps once the fps count drops. So if you are 60 fps but the suddenly the game drops a few fps, then once the system detecs that it droped a few fps, it automatically drops it to 30 fps you are going to feel it sluggish and like it it's worse than it actually is.

2: 24 yikes, that pop-in/draw distance is horrendous. Especially on hardware as capable as the Switch 2. Ngl, the game looks like decent fun. But I'd probably get bored of it before I even beat it, it looks very repetitious and gimmicky with the whole terraforming destruction physics. Cool idea but it seems to lean heavily on that single component. This isn't a definitive take on the game, just my opinion of what I've seen thus far.

I mean, I’m glad that the game is good but it’s not buy a Nintendo switch 2 good. I do look forward to playing it, but there needs to be a considerable amount of other switch 2 games out there before I’m willing to buy a Nintendo switch 2. Until then, I’ll keep playing my PS5 and Xbox series X where the library of games is vastly more expansive than what the switch 2 offers currently.

Finding and securing a switch 2 early before this game released was the smartest decision I made this year! Once the stock issue is resolved, I'm positive this game will be a console seller! If you have a switch 2 go buy this game. Forget the reviews or discounts, go buy it, NOW! If your doing digital buy the game voucher deal and use one on DK save the other one for something else

Looks great but I SWEAR TO GOD if another goddamn 3D platformer from one of the big three console makers steals GOTY from one of the greatest turn-based RPGS ever made for a SECOND YEAR IN A ROW I'm gonna have conniptions. Metaphor was the victim of the worst robbery I've ever seen in my life. If Clair Obscur goes the same way we don't deserve nice things ever again.

Streamed it last night. Honestly I'm absolutely livid at Nintendo's 2nd major release lagging like this. Its a brand new console and we're dealing with the same issues we had with it's other releases. One of their biggest selling points is like. pay extra to get a higher resolution and lag free version of last generation games. Tired of them getting away with this stuff.

After playing Astrobot this games levels just look bland and boring. I played the game and its controls are awesome! Mobility is amazing. Its like those old Hulk games from the PS2 era. However, the crappy graphics, annoying camera and boring level design are a far cry from it being a masterpiece. Like no way is this on the level of master class games before.

CONTRARIAN VIEW Anyone else think this has the look and feel of Donkey Kong made by Chinese developers Competent but oddly textured DK character model. Terrific environmental designs and special effects; yet, VERY LITTLE CHARM. Punch-punch-punch like a child's tantrum, materialistic not about money but bananas. Anyone else just me

I feel like this game being able to be beaten in 8hrs is really not worth the 70$ price tag. Yes it has a 100% completion surprise, but I’m glad I didn’t buy a switch 2 just to play this and Mario kart, because it wouldn’t have been worth the investment for the time you get in this world. It’s like a short visit. Not a long stay.

Game also activates my satisfaction neurons every time I find something randomly underground while digging plus the game really runs very smooth as well. The sound design and the songs are also really great. But most importantly, as someone that isn't a big DK fan, the game is FUN even when I'm just exploring/smashing around.

While I think the game is overall fun, I think the camera angles problem is being too downplayed by most reviewers. It’s a significant flaw. Another is the absolutely hideous monochrome levels. 103 comes to mind. Red on red on red on red on red. I don’t think the way they used colour in this game is good, at all.

I haven’t gotten that far (maybe 1-1. 5 hours, I didn’t really notice the slow down yet but things haven’t gotten bananas yet. (Heh. When you bust something open, you do get a slight bullet-time effect, and I wonder if that’s an intentional way to make the slow down not feel so bad when it does get crazy

I dont understand how reviewers give this a 10/10. Negatives;
- Horrible bad texture pop in - like pokemon scarlet
- Bad graphics
- Framedrops from 60 to direct 30 FPS in EVERY boss fight
this is not a perfect game smart ppl can see by game size alone 9 GB for open word is a joke.

Is anyone going to mention the very clear undercooked animation in this game lol Every single time you run and stop as DK, it’s very snappy and most of the stuff on screen is quite jarring and overly flashy.
Only a small criticism, but still feels like a very underbaked aspect.
