Speaking of recent games - Steel Seed looks absolutely amazing and it's very sad that nobody mentions it, CAIRN, or Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy! I was going to mention games like Syberia: The World Before, but then I saw it's about recent game levels, and TWB is from 2022. The list is good, keep up the great work, but it has potential to be so much better and more specific.
The first entry, from Resident Evil, really impressed me and set me up to see even higher realistically looking games by the end, but unfortunately after that the list really degrades, and makes me question whether we look at games with insane graphics or realistic games. So the video endorses realistic as part of qualifying as a game with insane graphics, but it's not about realism, because many other entries didn't look as realistic as Resident Evil Requiem. In terms of realism best entries were def RE and Mafia, and Routine. But some of the other entries didn't really suit that kind of a list, although it'd prolly depend how do you understand insane graphics. But if we accept that insane graphics doesn't mean realistic necessarily then games like Steel Seed, and Amerzone certainly enter this list as well, because during the other entries some specific locations of a game are picked and pointed out as looking the best in a specific game, although I can't really define it as something insane or suitable for the list, since there's better examples more in line with other more accurate entries in the list. In that meaning even 1384 Ex Voto could qualify, because it has amazing fidelity and vistas and realistic textures and environments.

With Crimson Desert I've never seen a game looks so good and bad at the same time. Things are blurry and shadows and lighting are trash especially indoors but the world looks good. I know they just released a patch to fix some of the shadows and lighting. You have to have the settings literally (and I mean literally literally) PERFECT for it to look really good. I know this comment will make the fanboys that think if they like something then no one can ever say anything about it cry. And I'm 85 hours in the game and have played from day one. Love the game.

An interesting counterpoint to realistic graphics in the PS1 era was Vib Ribbon. It had a very simple 2D, white on back line drawing art style, oddly elegant for the time. It really captured my heart. The simplicity of it against the backdrop of other games of that era and their often chaotic attempts to look realistic was visually soothing. My pal still has my old PS1, chipped to play Japanese games, so maybe I'll hunt down a copy of Vib Ribbon - the music was great.

With all the fancy graphics I only miss one this in games is NVIDIA PhysX is a physics engine, do you remember how awesome physics was especially in borderlands 2 not even that but the list go on Batman: Arkham, Metro Series, Mirror's Edge, Mafia 2, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Warframe, try to imagine now a game with modern graphics plus NVIDIA PhysX, really wish that developer could look back at old engines and bring some things to current state of games.

Engines get way too much credit. It's the equivalent of telling a photographer that they must have a great camera, because their photos are so good. No! The engine is a tool. the visual quality is created by the art designers! The texturing, the level design, the lighting choices. The engine helps, sure, but have you played Quantum Error That's Unreal Engine 5. How does that one look Cool engine, huh

This games shows us how little the big developers give us in order to not raise our standarts and keep feeding us with half cooked garbage. If a mid corean studio who only made 1 game is capable of this imagine if Blizzard, EA or Nintendo wanted to really push the limits of what's possible. A shame we live in a world of greed, the marvels we could have.

It looks like we're coming to the point where anyone will have access to the best, almost photo realistic graphics, so the cream will rise based on how the graphics and sound design are used, and most often they are used in the best ways by people with really really good ideas about immersion. Awesome video dude!

There is many things in REQUIEM that looks hell a bad to be honest.
Don't say it's super graphics or anything, the Devs needs to know this is not that good and can be improved on.
When talking it's so good it's like Devs just keeps delivering the same graphics as people likes it.

Crimson Desert has set a new standard for open world fantasy games. If its not better then this, its not worth any money.
So devs gotta step up their game if they want to compete.
Amazing game all round, also the devs listen to fans and bring out updates on the regular.

I love how this video uses a more holistic definition of graphics. Theres this prevalent line going gameplay of graphics due to lower bar for entry. So to see graphics defined as the whole of atmosphere, narrative context, pacing, visual art direction to induce emotions. Kudos!

SW Outlaws since the update looks REALLY really good in some places, its never quite levels but piockets opf levels, but with Ray Reconstruction on, it's seriously impressive. No more washed out, grainy oatmeal smeared on the lens

Too bad so many are 1st person. There are a large number of the gaming demographic that do not play 1st person games, so both we and the gaming market lose out. How that fact slips past devs is beyond comprehension to me.

I bought myself a beast of a pc and being able to play games like cyberpunk at maxed out graphics at 200 fps opened a whole world of possibilities I wasn’t aware even existed. It is a good time to be a gamer for sure!

I want a re-review of Crimson Desert with Falcon, this guy is so annoying, he can't help but throw jabs at CD when i seriously doubt he even played it. Falcon is way better and less annoying than this guy.

There seems to be a mistake, star citizen isn't in the list. that game is a screenshot generator, and then i'm not even talking about using the VR, i heard rumours that that makes the game even look 3x better.

Game get more and more realistic looking but character equipment is still just floating half a foot away from their back.
It made sense when I was playing WOW a decade ago but it gets more and more jarring.
