there is no way to go all streaming. The internet infrastructure just isnt there. Local rendering is the best way to do it. And you can also play offline. I feel like there is no way to support the amount of people that game with render farms unless they are keeping the quality of the games low. opening a console up to being able to use full scale pc hardware you would expect the same performance. If I could get 75-100fps at ultra settings on 4k for around $500 then yeah streamed games might be the cheapest option but would only be utilized by people with the best internet. I don't know of any graphics solution right now that can render high refresh 4k. I guess lets just see what the next gen nvidia cards can do.
I wouldn't know why after making the amazing xbox one x that they would think about streaming. I highly doubt that it would be cheaper to run render farms than it would be to build a proper console. Maybe if microsoft becomes their own ISP and runs fiber all over the country it would be possible. But even google fiber is only in a small amount of places.

I think it's a good idea. We need to get rid of this cd consoles, cd's that get scratched and consoles that say disk error BS! Not to mention over heating of Microsoft consoles, so lame! They need to sell consoles that come standard with nothing less than 1TB hard drives, and that you buy your games from the game stores like Xbox Store and PSN. When you buy games like this, you get to keep them forever and your console doesn't get hot at all if you jam for 10 hours straight. I have the fat PS3 and Xbox 360 Elite, and all my games are bought from the online stores, and my Xbox doesn't even use the fan at full speed when playing for even 3 hours etc, it still get's a little warm but not like when you use a disk. And there are games always on special, like Call Of Duty Black Ops 1, 2 and 3 and even Advanced Warfare are so cheap right now on both PSN and XB Store. Now I can jam CoD BO with my friends all day long with no issues! Anyway, that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't bet anything on Ubisoft. They've been wrong about things in the past plenty of times. It took them one year to figure out that Star Force copy protection that they were using was flawed and causing hardware issues on people's computers. I know because I'm the one that discovered the problem. And tried and tried and tried to get through to their tech support who had no clue what was going on. So don't put too much into what Ubisoft is saying. As long as people want to purchase Hardware there will always be a market for it. The people are the driving force on the direction that gaming will go.

Supply and demand... the industries are trying to push a steaming service so if people buy into it then it will be future standard. Im a console guy that likes to buy physical hard copies so it will probably be the death of gaming for me personally!!! looks like I will have to start doing something else with my time haha like go out for a walk... do some exercise hahaha

I don't want consoles to die but it would be very nice if the next generation is the last one to produce. What I want to say is that is people would save a lot of money because the cycle of new generations is over and they don't have to buy a new console each time.

I don't like streaming, I like to hold the box in my hands, smell it, read the manual and slip the disc into the console. These small things bring me so much joy, not something I would relinquish for the sake of -convenience-.

If games go completely online only they will be losing millions of players like myself who prefer single player physical games. Not to mention the tens of millions of gamers who have crappy internet service.

I don't want to see games become a subscription service. I could see consoles declining, except for Nintendo, but I don't know if the community is down with not owning their games

Streaming games completely rely on internet conditions, and some countries, such as China, have internet restrictions. Also, hacking would be an issue.

As things that are happening right now with next gen is easy to say this could be the last console generation with a good amount of players
